15 years of incidents from multiple idiots.

Well just on this guy...8 weeks for striking in Round 3. Yesterday, does another very very poor act, comes off with blood rule and then gets put back on the field and continues to play like an idiot. So......

As a club and particularly a coach we all know it is difficult to control the actions of every individual however, here you have a repeat offender and in a way they have condoned this behaviour by putting him back on the field. They had a choice to make a stand that culturally they are changing and actions like that won't be tolerated.

If they are working towards improving, they now have an opportunity to take a stand against one 'idiot' and take action themselves, if they don't there are serious problems there. Again, actions taken by clubs against their own idiots sends a very strong message to the league that they do not condone the behaviour and will rid the club of theses people to send a message to all players that the whole club's image will not be tarnished by one or two individuals.

Given the way it was handled yesterday I don't expect anything proactive.

But banning the whole club from finals is way over the top... I'm OK with taking points off etc

In this case they are not in finals contention anyway

Never forget the SW President's comments after the 2005 GF disgrace.

"We play hard footy at Salisbury West, it's not ballet"

I'm extremely unconvinced on the merits of the club continuing as a member of the Adelaide Footy League

Don't put idiots on the field. Only way to stop it.

16 games life ban? Ridiculous. Means 2-3 players have had to cop potentially life altering injuries along the way.

Only 12 in the ADL FL.....but still beside the point. Clearly some players at certain clubs just don't get it

Massive games this week to shape the top 5.

Brahma V Pulteney
Elizabeth V Ingle Farm
Trinity V Houghton

A win for pulteney this week and they will lock up the minor premiership (percentage too good). A loss and they will be equal points with Brahma .
Elizabeth win and they will be equal top or one game behind and locked in the top 3. Playing for a home final the week after.
Ingle farm win and they could be equal second and with Elizabeth and Brahma playing in round 18, a lock for a top 3 spot (will likely play away due to percentage)
Trinity will win but percentage is average. This will mean they are playing for a home elimination final. They need to win by 200 this week and beat pulteney by 100 to get in the top 3.

I think this final series is going to be fantastic. Each team is capable of beating each other on any given day.

If this is accurate then it shows a willful cultural issue and is why club sanctions are an apt and important stick for the league to use.

Not to gloat as we still battle with discipline and it's only an anecdote but as Mitchell Parks B grade coach last year, we had a couple of guys that always made me nervous. I would suspect we all would. One day one of them (and one of our better players too) was ... "on heat" so to speak. He tried to do something that had he been coordinated enough could have really hurt the guy. None of the on-field players or umpires saw it but myself and a few watching A graders did.

Dragged him instantly. Told him to sit on the pine for the rest of the game and in no way was he going back on. Very publicly dressed him down and then internally banned him for two weeks. It was a sobering lesson for him as he figured since he didn't connect and the ump didn't see it that there was nothing to really answer for. He was a saint for the rest of the year.

It was less about him as much as it was about exhibiting to all players, both the watching As and his team mates, that violence of any kind is absolutely not to be tolerated at our club. You have to get in front of this stuff as a club and be proactive.

Salisbury West reps might have a different side to the story but if what has been said is accurate and they returned a player to the field after breaking a nose behind the play with a headbutt - that exhibits entrenched cultural issues within that club and is as alarming, if not more, than the incident itself.

We had an off the ball incident in a game against West Croydon last year in the B grade that neither umpire either saw or were willing to do anything about, it happened just before 3 qtr time and it was the final straw for me as the player had been antagonising and pushing the boundaries all day, and at 3 qtr time I went over to Stubby and spoke to him about the incident and how it shouldnt be tolerated, and to his and the clubs credit, they benched the player for the last qtr.. Diffused the situation and no further incidents took place. Shows that clubs can take a stand to avoid this sort of thing happening

Couple of really good games of footy played at Houghton on Saturday and well done to Fitzroy on the win in the main game.
Was great to see so many Fitzroy players up in our club after the game enjoying a beer and after speaking to a couple of them sounds like they have some very good plans on the future.
Good blokes and club and wish them all the best.

Cheers Informer and thanks for the hospitality by the raiders other clubs could definitely take a leaf out your book.
All 4 sides were up for the fight Saturday and reflected on the scoreboard. Was an enjoyable day.
