Hahaha that would be Brandon "Susan or Ballsack" Walscak. The only player in the history of the game to have missed a week because of a pimple.

I had my runner pull out once this year because of a cyst on his cheek

I think this topic deserves a thread all its own.
I remember a player missing a game when I was a younger because his girlfriend's goldfish had died.

I missed one week of rugby union because of a double fractured little finger, didn't get a whole lot of sympathy and am now referred to as 'pinky' around the club

It bloody hurt and there was no way I was playing with a target on me known as a bandage and splinter

In Susan's defense, it was quite a bad case of I think an infected boil, as in, he could barely move let alone play football.

Still, as you could imagine, he has copped it rather relentlessly since. Including the great nickname - Susan Boyle.

The worst excuse I have heard was a guy who didn't want to play footy because he wanted to go to the Crows game. Which is a bit of a shit excuse in itself but perhaps understandable. Except the game was Saturday night and we were playing at 2:15.

When pressed about this oddity said player stated that he wanted to get there early to reserves his favourite seats.

He didn't play many games after that.

Is that the real reason they call you "pinky"? ;)

In the middle of GTA V or Vice City would be acceptable excuses.

I've dead set skipped training because my mates needed me in a Call of Duty clan battle :| Sorry Scooter!

a lad who is with the units now gave me the best excuse to miss a game when he was playing at kenilworth..i am in a jail cell in pt augusta..

a boil in the wrong spot could render somebody unable to play..have some pity on him! :)

Was it Quinno who missed an SANFL final because he had slipped in the shower, went to grab the soap holder and it snapped off the wall slicing his hand open and needing numerous stitches

We had one last year that said he couldn't get back from Darwin one week because his passport had expired

Not football granted but my personal favourite for pulling out of a game was former England fast bowler Derek Pringle who injured his back whilst writing a letter!

Hey, I put mine out ironing once.

I was shaking the creases out of a hanky.

I've never ironed since. Its a health hazard 8)

It's actually not that weird - back's don't usually go out because of the act of writing the letter, in this case, or reaching for a towel, it's just that the person was doing that at the time their back popped and so the person, naturally, assumes it was this particular action that caused it. The back was probably in a bad way and was 'going' anyway.

I bulged a disc in my back before the St Paul's game a couple of weeks ago getting up off the bench in the change rooms before warm up.

I just remembered, I may well be a culprit. I was sitting on the couch and outstretched my legs, pointed my toes and BANG! Left foot was in agony and couldn't walk. Apparently chipped a bone in the stretching motion and missed the game that Saturday.

I was the guy that got injured relaxing on a couch.

It's why I stopped playing - I'd had too many bulges (there's only so much fluid in those discs).
When I had them, it would lay me up for weeks.

Don't tell me that!!! I've had just about every injury known to man - but the feeling on that Sunday morning after putting that disc out was easily the worst pain I've felt. Honestly could not move. Horrible stuff.

Give me a snapped bone or torn ligament any day.
