Looks like the past Rosewater champ that was pulled out of retirement this week, reluctantly changed his jumper number. Heard he nearly wasn't gonna pull a guernsey back on, unless he got his prized No.23 back. Well done to the young fella out there, who declined handing back in the old blokes number but I've never heard of such an argument over who wears what numbers. I thought the numbers on the scoreboard at the end of the day, were the only real numbers worth worrying about?

I don't know why you say well done to the young fella. Typical young punk with no respect for their elders.

I haven't asked for my number in any of my 32 comebacks.

Partly to do with the fact that I need to reach for the higher numbers due to a bit of retirement girth.

sh*t thats about the first bit of truth ive read on here! Played for 30 years in 1 number, why wouldnt you ask to have the number
But there was no argument at all. Coach asked the young lad and said he wants to keep it

Correct did think about not playing, why break 30 years for 5 games that i never asked to play?
in the end put the clubs plight first and try and help
Not that it did much anyway.

Bla bla bla this sort of bullshit does nothing for any football club, and footy forums are just a place for anonymous people to offer their two bobs worth. If half of these experts were fronted personally in the real world their gobs would be closed!!!! For footballs sake if its all about "me" go and play an individual rewarding game like golf and leave the team sports for team mates. Seriously humored by this crap!!

You're right. It does nothing for your club, but that's no-ones fault but your own.

You asked a bloke to come out of retirement to help out, which he does showing what a club man he is and you don't bother to give him the respect he deserves.

Someone should have over-ruled the young punk so that all the players know there is value in being a respected club man down there.

The number on your back doesn't make the player in the jumper.

(no, I didn't get it from a fortune cookie)

Agreed. So it shouldn't mean a thing to bloke that has worn it once (from the sounds of it) for a club. To someone who has played many season's in it, there is probably some sentimental value to it, some meaning.

30 years at the same club and I could understand, you've had a few clubs in the last decade, on the same token, I guess by choosing a number that isn't in the top 10 you would of thought you could get it for life, then comes Michael Jordan, Andrew McLeod etc.
I had the same number for nearly 20 years, tried to get it when I played at a new club, no cigar though, was able to retrieve it when I returned to my original club, only if I played B's though, someone else had snaffled it up and bought a long sleeve with the number on it aswell, I took anything that didn't have a 5 on it after that.
Snapped my collarbone wearing #15, broke my ankle wearing #25, gave up on the 5's, they were the only two times I wore them.

That's hard to measure, after all its only round 14.. However we did lose a couple of quality players who went to Portland fc, but luckily we have gained good enough replacements. The group we have from last year has probably just matured a bit as players... Feel free to ask later on in the season
