So are you saying you think he could potentially get a 5-week holiday?

I heard he emptied the contents of his mouth on more than one occasion yesterday. Pretty average if true...

Spitting on someone is on a par with headbutting as the lowest act you can do on a footy field in my opinion.

I got spat on once and i will never ever forget it. Mine was in between quarters so the umpires didn't see it, but a lot of players and spectators did. The player didn't get reported because the umps didn't see it which is unfortunate.

Anyone found guilty of spitting on a player should be dealt with to the full extent.

To contradict myself now i have to say that all these clubs (including my own club) asking for investigations is now getting out of hand. Investigations in my opinion should only be asked for if the act that isn't seen hampers the player's quality of life outside of the game. eg he can't work due to it etc.

Spitting whilst quite denigrating is not going to hamper the players life outside of footy and such should not be investigated. Clubs and players sometimes have to just realise that unfortunately sometimes things aren't seen and its purely unlucky. My spitting case wasn't seen by the umps on the day, although seen by a lot of others, and when I complained the umps explained that they aren't calling me a liar but didn't see it so can't do much about it. I copped it on the chin (literally) and moved on.

Yuck!

I disagree Jab. That sort of crap should be taken very seriously and the bloke stamped out.
There could NEVER possibly be the need to spit on someone, in any situation in life, let alone during a game of Div 5 amatuer league football

I agree it should be stamped out and is disgusting and disgraceful and any other describing words you can think of, but its not worthy of an investigation. If it wasnt seen by the umpires then its just really really unfortunate.

I mean, i did go pretty mental about it! i didn't just get spat on then walk away, there was a bit of a melee afterwards!

mmmm... agree to disagree. :)
I can see what you're saying about affecting the players life, but if we just rely on umpires not seeing it - then you could get away with anything!

To be honest mate I have no understanding of these investigations. Can they be requested by any club for any incident at anytime?
Thankfully I have never been involved in one..

I also thought hitting another player in the face behind the play was frowned upon by the powers that be at thebarton? I guess his coaches decision not to put a fit player back on the field for nearly a half of footy probably says a little about how they felt about his actions.

Other then that well done to west croydon on playing some really good football, they were clearly better as the score line suggested.

Pretty good post there Jabber. I agree that spitting on someone is one of the lowest acts out there. I played a game for port 19's where Nick Salter spat on my teammate and likewise ill never forget that. Even now that he plays for my afl team i refuse to cheer for him when he gets the footy

But also agree that there is no point in pursuing the investigation if the umps didnt see it, banging your head against a brick wall im afraid regardless of the incident.

Before I say anymore, can I congratulate the 20 players and coaching staff that where cleearly superior on the day. The deserve the 2 points and will be very hard to stop come September.

I also want to say a big thank you to the match day offical from
yesterday ( older gentelmen, smaller in stature). Was apologetic after the game for what had happened and promised to deal with it internally. Would love to know what his findings are.

Now on to the incident. The alleged member attempted to strike twice, then elbowed a played in the face off he ball ( 30 seconds later) and then decided he didn't need his contents in his mouth on3 seperate occassions and 3 seperate people. 1 being a female trainer. Now stick up for this bloke as much as you won't. I know you lost a lot of respect fro. 20 blokes in brown and yellow yesterday.
