THINK HE MAY HAVE PLAYED A COUPLE OF GAMES THERE LAST YEAR BUT WASNT REALLY INTERESTED, I BELIEVE PAYNEY COACHED HIM OUT AT E.P AND RATES HIM VERY HIGHLY WHEN FIT AND FIRING...

Seeing the last time he played us, Fit and Firing may be quite the task.

Hahahaha.
Wasn't he at Elizabeth? How'd he go there, they were div 5 at the time I think?
From reports he hasn't been remotely fit since 2001
But this could be the year.... but each club he goes to says that plus he's not getting younger and it doesn't get easier so probably the right div for the unit.

Hahahaha is he still doing that?! I saw him actually take his own guernsey off one day, get in the car, drop a burn out and leave the ground - all before three quarter time and all because he was angry at his own team and not the opposition. But then again that was at the same club that a kid did pull out a meat cleaver...

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything on Plympton, if they have picked up any new players and have they lost any?

Noticed on the Hills thread that they may be taking part in a 20/20 night preseason comp with Mt Barker, Mt Lofty, Hahndorf, Echunga & Tailem Bend on Friday 18th Feb @ Hahndorf...

Wouldn't help that half their players were poached by ex-coaches.

sad about smithys if true but is this another case of clubs taking local home grown players for granted.i know that a huge amount of their under 18s ended up at central united to play for a coach that looked after their best interests.maybe if senior officials took the same approach clubs wouldnt find themselves so often in this position.but thats just me thinking aloud

WTF are you on about? How do they take their home grown talent for granted, do you mean they should pay them to stop them going elsewhere?
Andy Stewart got an A Grade gig at Central United and coaxed his 18's from the previous season out there too, Andy was looking after his own interests as a first time senior coach, he had a good relationship with the kids as he had been in the junior coaching game for a number of years so they were easily persuaded.
Steve Dejager before him coached the 18's and B grade and then went to Angle Vale taking a stack of players also.
Our young players get money thrown at them every year to leave, some go, some stay, even still, we'd have a strong A grade this season but the players that Central United and Angle Vale took were fringe A graders at best but nevertheless they were numbers.
So if you want to crap on about "best interests", please be a little specific, if that means getting an A grade game in div 7 opposed to pushing for selection in div 5 well then I guess you've got me.
Unless you have anything more than just hunch, maybe you should just avoid thinking "aloud", this is Smithfield's centenary year and when you get cut off at the knees twice in the space of a few years it's going to eventually cripple you. There is a lot of upset people looking for answers and getting together to try and turn this around immediately so seeing as though you have so much advice for "senior officials", please forward some along.
The Smithfield Football Club pays NO ONE except the coach, that's where we can't compete, my 17 y.o son was offered $200 per game last season to go to a rival div 5 club and knocked it back, he has had 4 different clubs offering similar amounts this season and they were all before Christmas, clubs want young talent and they don't care who they kill off to get it.

Nail hit on head, it's not just them either, then again could you blame Andy. He is in a tough predicament, do you poach players of a club that you are a life member at in order to create a good coaching profile for yourself?
The answer is yes if you want to be a life member of a club that doesn't exist anymore, so the time it took to receive the honour is now wasted as it will end up being a pile of rubble then perhaps a couple of take-away shops in it's place.
I may aswell throw any old trophies, premiership medallions or any memorabilia away in the hard rubbish collection tomorrow because there will be no point reminiscing on a place that doesn't exist.

LM i was actually not having a go at Smithfield, moreso that we hear the same stories at the start of every year and its a tedious one. Just like the who pays who debate which gets wheeled out every couple of months.

So don't have a ******* go at me mate when i, if anything, wanted to stop this potential club bashing drivvel that was being typed.

Read the last line of my post... next story please

Which would mean, stop the crap and move on, we hear the same shit at the start of each year.

For **** sake, our club was there as well.
