yes.......one might imagine they would be quite inconsolable......but they still may have another shot in the second half..... Certainly any percentage gain is academic given their dominance in Division 7.

knowing ya gonna get smashed by 50 goals, is deciding to instead not show up an understandable decision?

and secondly does the league fine a club for forfeiting?

Yes, but I believe there is no fine if you forfeit by Thursday night.

ok so a predicted loss of 50 goals, the team instead forfeits, generally its understood, i mean why go thru that, just raise the white flag - forfeit

how about a predicted 40 goal loss? if the upcoming loser instead forfeits, will that be generally accepted?

Would rather get belted off the park than forfeit. At least you have had a go.

Just put it out there AV to div 7 and Wingfield play div7r only way these two clubs could survive if the team up like MP and Flinders Uni.

also got Flinders Park involved their too champ. They are Wingfields reserves side :)

best solution for Angle Vale right now, as mentioned in other thread, is for them to simply dump their reserves & just play an agrade side

Surely the best solution would be to try to recruit a few more players, perhaps some C & D-Grade players at other clubs who could step up to A & B-Grade level

Aside from great facilities there is not much to offer potential recruits at the moment. That would be harder than ever at this time of year with recent results.

Looks like SHOC are pulling their D grade for the remainder of the season.

In a world of instant gratification, people aren't willing to toil if success is not imminent.

Problem is, the path to success is rarely free of obstacles.

Poses the question, is it time C & D grade sides were excluded from divisions played mostly by A grade teams?

I'm not talking about a super C grade either Marbles, i'm talking about putting them back into C divisions with promotion/relegation.

Means a club may have it's c grade in C1 and it's D grade in C4 (or lower), but geez better than disrupting an A grade comp, and having such uncertainty each season. I'm sure clubs could still arrange to have the sides play back to back - look at Modbury in C4 for instance!

err shocs are the 1st of the cgraders (d-side) to encouter difficulty

kilburn, brahma, mitchell park, angle vale and wingfield are the ones in knee deep (all agraders)

flinders park at least made notice to cause less disruption

Certainly not great for SHOC as they have always had very strong sides in the lower grades but when you are trying to make up numbers, calling up ring ins, telling em they will be used sparingly but only 18 or 19 rock up and you then get hit by injuries, they very quickly realise sparingly means having to play 4 quarters in a pretty solid competition.

I know its been discussed earlier but there was talks of having an North & South comp for C & D grade sides. probably isnt the worst idea, as when you are scratching for numbers and looking for last minute players, its much easier to attract them when its a 20 minute drive to the game instead of an hour and 20 minutes. Also, playing against local rivals each week is always good for crowds and the likes.. Modbury have a great rivalry with Gullies, Hope Valley and Golden Grove.. when ever we have played those sides in the lower grades we always get a good turn out at training as well as decent crowds for the games.. Alot for the SAAFL to assess next year i suppose and hopefully allow them to avoid a situation much like Houghton's reserve side will be facing, 3 weeks without a game is almost unheard of mid year.
