Yeah it's the one of the things in it I'm not so sure about. Still makes it possible to raid a club within SAAFL.

agreed saafl to saafl should be at least 2 if not 3 points. especially if coming from div1-3

It's a bit odd that to country leagues Div1-3 players are worth 3 points, Div4-7 are worth 2 points but with in our own league they are worth 1

I went to the meeting last night and IMO even the people who developed and are FORCING its implimintation have no idea about the number of issues that will come up from within SAAFL even the gentleman that spoke last night from the GBL admitted that it helped even out their comp but was not perfect hence in a 10 team comp some clubs only have 3 points while some have as many as 17...SAAFL have promotion and relegation in a 60+ strong club assosiation...not sure how/where/why it will affect our comp....I heard PAOC would have had in excess of 30 points in the grand final this year but they still lost...go figure

What was pushed at the meeting was that the system was really to fix a problem outside of the SAAFL but needed the clubs acceptance to do that. The country leagues are fully aware that big spending clubs in the country are making their leagues uneven and this is the solution to try and combat that. Without all leagues being on the same page the leagues that aren't would suffer and there was a fair chance if we didn't accept it it would have been us.

I heard last night that with all of their recruiting PAOC would have been at 9 points. I know that my clubs GF side would have been 5 points.

Our Elimination final side from last year was three points.

If the country are copping three points for SAAFL Div 1-3 players and two points for Divs 4-7, seems like that's what it should be within the SAAFL too. Under that rule, any Div 7 player (with no disrespect) is as valuable as a Joey Hay or Dave Bartel.

There is part of the problem Pag this just has not been thought through for long enough..IMO it will be a nightmare for administrators at all levels..and could well lead to some harsh words being exchanged

Isnt this the case between SAAFL Clubs? makes sense to me that a Div 1-3 player is a higher value (point figure) than a Div 4-7.

So if a Goodies player left and played for Salisbury he would be 3 points but if a Fitzroy player left and played for Goodies he would be 2 points

No ..points are only assigned to players that are currently playing with your club and those points only apply to your A grade and it applies to the team you put on the park that day only

I think you misinterpreted what I said to you last night Turk

Working from the information we first received at the start of the year, I calculated it at 26 points but, without going into detail, that method of calculation has now been substantially changed and rewards us for recruiting old scholars.

Our 2010 GF team was 10 points and that drops to 4 points in 2011 based on the same team.

So, overall, the APPS encourage us to recruit as many old scholars as possible AND that is one of the main aims of the system - to encourage clubs to have strong juniors

I can understand clubs like Greenacres and Kilburn being pi$$ed but you pinch other people's juniors now so nothing much changes

Yep ok jimmy sorry I was wrong

the old scholars thing seems to be a grey area the fact that records are not kept for "school" footy means sly cunning and devious clubs (not you guys obviously) may well state that "Smithy" played footy at our college/school as a junior..how does anyone prove otherwise and hence he comes at 0 points... so I understand the fact that it is appealing

I agree that the APPS is going to help across the board but at least let clubs do the exercise of cause and effect before bulldozing them into a decision

Its not going to stop second string players being poached because their pont value is zero it does not protect clubs juniors from being raped and pilaged (in fact it almosts assists in it)...

So in principle a sound idea...but still has a lot of problems

and if anyone believes Mr Rosser when he talked about "ringing them (CFB)at 8am Friday morning with a point allocation problem and it would be sorted by 12noon" then hang your stockings girls and boys because Santa's in town soon

I did ask Johno if PAC and Greenacres had any shared juniors..........

He reminded me they would have been sent to McNally's at Rostrevor not Yatala, so you couldnt claim them
