Interesting how times have changed since this thread started really. Given how thoroughly the Adelaide Footy League has cleaned up it's competition the soft/hard dichotomy is likely non-existent.

The other big change would seem to be the coalescing of Old Colls sides in the top 3 divisions, presumably arising out of a confluence of APPS, TPPS and more interest being shown by those respective clubs. Given, anecdotally at least, the top 3 divisions are the cleaner ones this probably further diminishes the idea of a "soft" or "hard" club

One other "phenomenon" to change it is the preponderance of gyms now. It used to be pen pusher v manual workers but the pen pushers now hit the weights as well

I miss the on-field "college poove" discussions............

Soft is still soft - no matter how well defined your muscular hypertrophy.

Money, player points and the emphasis from the AFL down of basketball like football have seen college teams improve from their rightful positions.

I guess having a Saints boy as the CEO of the AFL has its advantages.

College Poofters

Go play in your league!!!
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

The player points system as it currently stands offer the college teams a huge advantage of a traditional football club.
