They play a running skilful game and the best way to beat them if not at their own game is by playing tough footy not allowing them to get space to run and carry. Ive played many games against college sides in the last few years and some of the toughest have been against Pembroke and SHOC.

When it comes down to it when your playing footy and its your turnt o put ya head over the ball you must otherwise you have a seat on the pine.

Well maybe they are a little softer than the rest ;)

That's how Portland won the D4 premiership last year - they ensured that their midfield did exactly that

Its no secret how they play 2 handballs around the back then either run or kick.... pressure them physically and they cant play their game

you have hit the nail on the head footy smart!
our A's did a great job in stopping PAOC's game, once they did that, they argued with eachother and didnt know what to do!
all sides can do that, just means as a side everyone has to play there part and work that bit harder!

Exactly Fisty

I watched it unfold against you during the season

Our forward line was dangerous but the good ball just wasn't getting in there because of the pressure in the middle.

We are well aware of it and hopefully will address it in 2009

Such words of wisdom! If that doesn't make a inarguable statement for the positive, I don't know what does

Here's a fact - in the inter-Schools Challenge, which involves all colleges and high schools, the college teams haven't done too badly. In 16 years, only Henley have ever made the final

I've often heard college coaches complaining about how their best players are poached by public schools offering free tuition

Good one Jimmy. The pools for that comp are determined by school population. I wonder how many public schools are in pool A?

No-one said college teams weren't any good, just soft. It's school football, you hardly need to be Leigh Matthews to win.

Gee Barbs, you must be new on here. They all whinge the same.

Some bloke cuts another in two with a chainsaw - someone else catches it on a camera and sends it of to the tribunal and all you hear is how he is persecuted because the dead bloke played for a college club and the killer plays for a district club.

But which High Schools in SA have teams that play each week?? Sweet F.A. I know in the state open knockout tournament when I was in year 12 we finished 3rd and lost the prelim by 3 goals to the eventual state champions and we only trained at lunch time twice and we all played at either A grade club level or SANFL. I have no doubt in my mind if we trained together as we did at club level we would have waltzed in the state title.

At Ocean View College (Taperoo High School) we had a few trainings at lunch. Our team was made up of A grade SAAFL players and Port U/17's and U/19's. Didnt play a college side but im guessing they would have time set aside to train together during school hours. We were knocked out in the second round but if we had more training opportunities we would have done a lot better. For the record smashed Mt Carmel (no big achievement) and then went down the Reynella High by a couple.

The only high school I have seen PAC play was Marryatville but that was our 2nd XV111. I think some of our underage sides play Adelaide Glenunga and Unley.

Is there a high school competition?
