A friend of a friend of a friend tells me that Joshy Hand has signed at TTG for 2014?? Great pick up if true!

I'm guessing more than a couple of Div 2 sides will sincerely wish him well stepping into Division 1. Talented footballer.

I have heard from very reliable sources that penalties coming from the Div 1 G/F replay are going to be extremely heavy. There was one report from the game (not including EW) plus a number of others from a video review. May include a report for manhandling an umpire. Watch this space!

That race has already been half run Retired 60. Callum Hay got 15 games in total from 2 reports (umpire contact and engaging in a melee) and Leigh Stones got 7 games for striking.

I think Eugene goes up next week, amongst others.

6 games for engaing in a melee seems a bit harsh. Any other reported for engaging in a melee? Or was he in a melee by himself?? :?

Well, it does take two sides to engage in a melee...

I think I may have got the wording wrong.

I think it applied as he was the instigator of said melee. - and lets face it - he did come flying in at a rate of knots.

That wording makes more sense.

going to have to be very watchful if and when he returns or it will be all over

15 games - de-registered. Unless he appeals to come back.

Were the offences bad enough to warrant an automatic de-registration? The video footage I have is amateurish, to say the least.

In the SAAFL, if you accumulate anymore than 12 games you're de-registered from the league. DOesn't stop a person from playing in another league though.

However if they accumulate more than 16 games total anywhere, they can't register to play anywhere. AFL rule.

I get that, and I agree to a certain extent.

But in your opinion, was he hard done by? I imagine you'd have seen the incidents in question.

It just seems a bit excessive to me, especially because Hay hasn't been rubbed out in the SAAFL as far as I know.

I know I've probably worded this really badly, but do you get where I'm coming from?

I probably can't comment either, however It happened in front of where I was sitting, so if you run from 20m away to punch someone in the head which starts an all in -I guess it depends on individual whether they think they're hard done by.. Dont forget there were 2 charges, one of which was contact with an umpire.

Did not see the incident in question with the umpire so cant give an informed opinion, but we all know how precious our umpires can be at times and i ask the question what did he supposedly do to the umpire, i have seen incidents were a melee is in full swing and players are wrestled in to the umpire or brushes past the umpire and they have had the book thrown at them, was this the case?

and again - I could say it was barely there and the next person might be of the opinion that umpires shouldn't be touched in any way, accidental or otherwise. Clearly the tribunal thought it was worth the amount of games it got based on video evidence.

Im not sure this was an umpires report though. I could be wrong.
