Far more problematic than C grade footy.

From my understanding is that they may play before or after the Womens. As the womens will play away when the men play home vice-versas.

Before all this happened we had our A and B grade women playing at home at 1:30 and 3:30 when our A,B and C grade men were away.

Our D or E grade would play 10:15am on the same day as the womens.

Abit rough on our C grade playing for a spot in the finals, coming up against eastern park who decided to play half their b grade who didn’t make finals.

Blokes who have not played a c grade match all year.

Why not make it exactly the same as finals?

There’s literally nothing stopping a team playing their a grade in these games

Could not agree anymore. The B grade is done, so unless you have played 2 or 3 C grade games you should be ineligible imo.

13 BYE ROUND PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
13.1 A player who plays in a Division in a round when their Member Club has other Divisions with the bye in that same weekend, shall not be eligible to play in the Division which had the bye in the following weekend of matches.
(a) A player may play in a lower Division if they have played the majority of their matches in the
current season in such lower Division.

So if EP had the bye in the a and b grade these guys wouldn’t be eligible but because they didn’t make finals they are...

Interesting rule

Majority games in the C grade div means nothing when all three teams of the club have made finals, accept it is the rule and move on.

Is the appetite for C grade footy beginning to diminish?
Is it too much strain on resources and volunteers?

Last year we had a strange year, but we got through.. having experienced that and then gone back to this year, what are peoples views on the make up of the competition (particularly C grade)?

Would clubs and players support a potentially shorter season / smaller sides / shorter quarters?

I think C grade competition should become:
* 8x teams per division
* 14 rounds plus finals
* 15 a side
* 20 minute flat quarters

Scheduling:
1. Start late, play finals same time as A/B grade divs
2. Start partly late, finish early, start finals in the last couple rounds of A/B divs
3. Start early, wrap up finals before A/B grade divs start finals

Maybe blokes are waking up to the fact that a game at 10am on a Saturday morning isn't that a brilliant idea after all...

There was only two forfeits on the weekend.

Wonder how many sides have been able to field 25 blokes each week without any issue.

Last couple seasons just seemed like clubs (some obviously more than others) are struggling for commitment and players from week to week.. and then when you add the workload and additional resources on top for a bunch of C graders seems a waste.

Shorter season, shorter quarters, shorter teams = winning.

I think the appetite for C-grade ebs and flows. While your own desires might be on the downward slope, others are embracing the concept right now.
Often these personal views can be linked to how well your team/club is travelling at the time.

I don't think it's any more broken now than it was say 2 years ago.

As for the commitment to sport in general, this has been a trend in all (actually lets say most) sports across the board for a couple of decades now.
Commitment doesn't mean what it used to!

Broadies had the best numbers for C Grade in years, have had 6 on the bench each week and this is with a rather large injury list as well.

Promoting kids from the 17.5 age group through has definately helped as well
