I wonder, for A grade teams who win premierships this year - how hard will it be for them to back up and go again next season.
Would it be easier or harder to prepare for a tilt in the same division?
It’s a great question Bedge, for me a club who wins a flag this year will have earned it, more importantly those who have done it with not only home grown talent, but their recruits who stay on next year. If a vaccine is available early 2021 for this pandemic then things could change a lot, Country clubs will open up again and make no mistake the cheque books will be out. So for clubs right now, player retention is critical. If the goss is right and the salary cap is reduced significantly for 2021 a lot of clubs will struggle to keep their best players when the vultures come after them. So the answer to your question is, how do you prepare for the unknown.
Cheque books in country leagues next year are going to be massive.
Decent(ish) rainfall this year will see farmers fairly cashed up, Agriculture industry was hardly hit by Covid and they saved a ton of money this year and will be ready to spend big time next year.
From what im already hearing up here we can expect a lot of new recruits into the leagues.
