Personally, despite me liking that we gave Konstas a go I don’t think he is ready yet nor has the technique required to be a test opener.

Green can’t bat at 3 either.

We’re stuck with Usi by mere lack of challengers.
Smith comes in for the second test for Inglis and then I guess it depends whether Smith or Green bats 3 but I suspect they see Green at 3 long term so stick with that

Oops, of course.

How was the atmosphere, drink prices and hospitality in general?
I’m not there yet. We are leaving KL this morning and heading to Egypt and will get to the Caribbean for the second test in Grenada

Another match where holding catches arguably proved the difference.

Also, Gaz on a hat-trick heading into the second test.

Hat tricks don’t carry on to a new match, can be done from 1st to 2nd innings of the same match but that’s it.

Been a good week
Pant makes 2 tons in a test match
Bazball wins
Head makes 2 x 50
Carey made valuable runs
Australia wins

And you can always tell when those 3 play well and bazball wins
When no one hasago atem

Konstas, for all his faults, has to play every Test over there, to give him the chance to prove that he can play at this level.

I don’t think he’s got what it takes, defence isn’t good enough and has no temperament, but I’ll be the first to congratulate him if he proves me wrong.

Disagree with Konstas. Come the end of the Ashes we will need another opener so need to get someone in and give them an extended run at it

Was taking the p155 with Marnus back in, on The New Ball they said he was likely going back to County cricket or Australia A tour

but if Smith comes in then one of Inglis Green Konstas or maybe Webster (I hope not) goes out

Nathan Lyon is adamant he’s not retiring “anytime soon” despite handing over the significant duty of leading the team song after victories to Test keeper Alex Carey.

After being handed the song leadership from Mike Hussey, Lyon has led hearty renditions of Under the Southern Cross 67 times across more than a decade.

But the 37-year-old spin star said it was time for someone else to “put their touch on it” and Carey was the man.

Being in the test team must be a monumental gravy train.

Since Punter, the reluctance of guys to bow out while still having something in the tank is almost non-existent.

Matthew Kuhnemann bowled very well in SL earlier this year - probably outbowling Gaz. He would likely be first cab off the rank.

Todd Murphy is probably worthy of further opportunities and is only about 24 or 25.

I don't know that he'll be needed much in the Windies, but when next Lyon gets a big chance to influence a match - i.e. the Ashes - he'd probably want to impress otherwise there will rightfully be questions as to whether it's time to move on. Will turn 38 before summer.
