Yes was Lynn's 'good' shoulder, his right shoulder.

Aussies win by 19 runs on DL, very good all round performance. They were clinical in this series and played with passion, the boys were pumped when taking catches and wickets.

In terms of 1st class runs and 1st class batting average you're picking Patterson, Hanscombe, Bancroft, Maddinson, and Maxwell before him. Having played less cricket based on average you're picking Stonis and Lehman (15 run better average and the same amount tons having played a third of the amount of games) before him too.

I know stats don't tell the full story and he is still a bloody good young cricketer but not sure Head would make my 2nd test side.

Pat Cummins update 22/01/2026

- He will most likely miss the first 2/3 games of the t20 WC and be available for the remaining games.
- He will play the entire IPL season in March- May.
- He will not be part of the MLC this year to manage his workload.
- He will most likely be given a rest in the Bangladesh Test series to keep himself fresh and fit for a gruelling test summer ahead.
- He is committed and willing to play the entire test series with South Africa, New Zealand,India, 150th anniversary test against England and WTC Finals if Australia make it there.
And one of the most important updates he has no intentions of stepping down from captaincy in test cricket at least till the end of the Ashes 2027.

I wouldn’t have thought there was any discussion of him stepping down. As someone who was dubious of him taking the reigns I’m fine to accept that I was wrong, it has risen him to another level and he leads by example.

He'll be 34 in May 2027 so the timing would be right for him to hand over after retaining the Ashes away, Head is the same age and Carey is already 34 so the question is who is next? The only player under 30 with a long term future is Green.

I think he means his not going to play the Bangladesh test series to keep himself fresh yet will be happy to play in the 3 month long IPL season.
