Yes it is, 17 tests more than the nearest streak.
It’s 23-22 for those playing at home, surprising stat in itself.
Be interested to know what the previous record was. Given they used to play timeless tests on uncovered wickets, I'm surprised South Africa have eclipsed teams from the early days of test cricket.

I too miss the matches between the touring side and the state teams prior to the first Test. When I was a teenager the touring team often arrived in Adelaide in late October and then played SA, VIC, NSW and QLD in the 4 weeks leading up to the first Test at the Gabba - so all members of the touring party played generally 2-3 games. Meanwhile the Australian players were playing at least 3 Shield games for their respective states as well - so there were no excuses for any players in either side involved in the 1st Test to be rusty or out of form. So there was a huge build up in excitement by the time we got to late November for the Gabba Test, especially if the touring team had beaten the state teams in their tour matches along the way. These days the touring team is ripe to be slaughtered at the Gabba due to no sensible preparation at all as players are involved in meaningless T20s or ODI around the world through November and jet into Brisbane seemingly 5 minutes before the 1st Test coin toss. No wonder Warney always cleaned up at the Gabba !!

Has anyone ever timed the ball like Smith does?

His boundaries are effortless and it’s like the ball gains momentum across the outfield.

Back when I would go to shield games Smith hit the ball with a different gravy. When he hit them down the ground to the long boundaries they would hit the picket fences with pace whilst most the the others would just dribble over the ropes, was really noticeable back then.

Warner is cooking, this is why you need to give leniency as to how often people might need a drink.

Timeless Tests were a very Australian thing.
In England they played 3 or 4 day test matches,
In South Africa they played mostly 4 day test matches.

Outside Australia timeless tests were usually only played in the last test match of a series when the result of a series was still to be decided.

Takes me back to December 4, 1986.

I batted right through recess to get to 76 when the bell went.

I resumed when lunch commenced and was in a race against time to get the double hundred before lunch ended. I got there and then retired just before the canteen closed so I managed to devour a chocolate snip too.

Similar scenes.

Mark Waugh
Victor Trumper

I heard that you went up on stage with Trumper when he won his Allan Border Medal.

Is it true that someone then yelled out “who’s that up there standing next to mal?”
