Obviously focusing on the India tour, quite rightly.

But why not give a couple of youngsters a go in NZ?

Are you happy with resting players or would you rather see the same side play in each series we're involved in? I'd be pissed if I was going to watch the last ODI against Pakistan and see a 2nd grade side line up. I want to go and see the best team play against the opposing best team. But that's me. I didn't know that "Professional" cricketers needed to be wrapped in cotton wool. HTFU CA!!!!!

You can do that if you want, then you might not see them for 12 months when they burn out or break down. What would you rather, miss them for one or two meaningless hit and giggles or forget about them until the next Aussie summer?

Should rest Starc and Hazelwood too, Indian tours can be gruelling on fast bowlers

You can correct me if I am wrong (which most times I am he he). Did we rest players like we have and do now back in the years we absolutely dominated cricket? Like back in the years of the teams with the captains of Alan Border, Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting?

Could have lefty Smith home too, given Head the gig for a few one dayers, see what the future holds. Head has cemented his spot so why not?

Agree on the two big quicks, with Cummins going well, Bird and Steketee and Faulkner could cover the overs with Head and Zampa as back ups.

Who cares about the animal husbandry tour, get the squad for India ready and let's look to the future.

No, but do you think they played ( traveled ) any where near as much as these guys do?

For example - Warner debuted in Dec '11 - Since then he's played 60 tests. That's 60 in 61 months.

Mark Taylor debuted in Jan 89 and retired in Jan 99 and played 104 Tests. That's 104 in 132 months.

Border Dec '78 - March 94 - 156 Tests in 184 months.

This isn't taking into account One Dayers and T20, you could expect Warners numbers to be even higher again in those forms.

There is more travel, but these Test figure comparisons always forget to take into account the number of First Class matches played by players in the past, as opposed to today. My understanding is, from previous commentary discussions around this topic, is that the number of days' play are very similar.

The real issue isn't the brief NZ tour but looking at the schedule after that we come back here and play 3 T20 against Sri Lanka and the last of those is the day before the Test series starts in India so I dare say there won't be any Test players playing in that series.

That is a shithouse bit of scheduling for the public.

Despite what we may all like to think, more money doesn't make you fresher after tea when they're 3/420 and it's 45° in Mumbai. ;)
