wasn't best move letting him go and keeping ronald mcdonald, as least klinger makes it onto the field.

to be fair, klingers record over the last 2 seasons had been very modest, especially if you take out that double ton he scored last season, his average away from home was something like 19 and was 39 at home

Correct, think he had 2 hundreds in a the last 2 seasons for SA. One was a double and other was near 150.

Not the least of which was thinking that Peter George was not even up to Second XI standard. Bowling beautifully for Queensland, taking a five wicket haul against Victoria (plus a run out). His height would have been useful on the WACA's bouncy pitch.
Cheers

And the run out was a dropped caught and bowled ricochet on to the stumps! Could have had 6!

I didn't so much mind the decision to let Klinger go, given they got Cosgrove back and to provide room for Head and Smith coming through. It was bizarre when they opened with McDonald at the start of the season though.

I don't agree with the decision to get rid of Botha and install Head as captain. Maybe after another season or two this would be ok, but too much pressure on Head at this stage. Should just let him concentrate on becoming the best batsman he can be. I thought Botha did a good job as skipper and earned his spot with both bat and ball. Build the side around him.

If they knew they were going to get rid of Botha at the end of this season, then they should have kept Klinger for experience.

Whoever made these decisions did so in haste IMO.
