You got me thinking so I went and checked, just ODIs and T20s for Australia 9which TBH is a fair effort.

Another middle order bat/alrounder who played ODIS but never a test was Ken MacKay in the 80s

From the rebel tours of the 80s you could Steve Smith, Mike Haysman and Mick Taylor who all made runs at the "international" level. John Maguire was a good bowler who was 12th man I think for Australia once.

Facing LeRoux, Procter, Rice and a young Alan Donald not a bad attack.

Remember getting his sticker for the 1983 Benson & Hedges World Series Cricket sticker book and being disappointed

There's a lot of bowlers/all-rounders who played ODIs/T20s for Australia but not tests, whose FC records suggest they could have done well at test level - e.g. Joel Paris, Dan Worrall, Jason Behrendorff, Ben Cutting, Lance Morris, Andrew Zesers pending injury, maybe Ashley Noffke, Dirk Nannes, Dan Christian, NCN, Ian Harvey. Shane Lee wasn't too shabby with the bat in FC cricket.

Aaron Hardie has a very good Shield record with bat and ball as well. Lance Morris perhaps but good chance he gets a crack at some point.

That's a fair list, I always thought Zesers would get a call up, Noffke was very talented as was Cutting. Did the Dorff play much shield cricket, I recall him breaking down a fair bit. I think ytour list fillsm the remaining spots.

I woud've thought that the numbers would be higher for the most runs and wickets in shield cricket.

Only 30 matches (plus one for Australia A), so about four per season. 126 wickets at 23.85 is very good though.

Did he also debut for South Australia when he was here for the Academy? Was the rule if the home state didn't want to pick them then SA could?

He did, along with a few around that time. I don't recall what the rule was.

The rule was they could play for SA, Scuderi (Qld) and Williams (Victoria I think) whilst they were in attendance at the academy however if their home state wanted them they had to return home. Not sure I if Scuderi told Qld to stuff it or he came back pronto.

I think Darren Berry did too or maybe he played the year after his academy stint whilst Dimmatina was still playing for Victoria, then he went back. He played for SA in 89-90.

I did hear a good story about a run in between Bevan and May in the changerooms over someone Bevan invited into the rooms.
