As stupid as this would be :
The 2nd placed team hosts the final
The top team still has the draw as a SS win
Problem could be be
More green tops then roads though
Aerie has suggested first innings points = the winner in drawn Final games
That seems more logical than the current set up
That's how the 4 day games are played in the minor round
Sides get a 2 point reward for winning on the first dig during the season , so apply it to the Final in drawn games

agree with all of that mal. i really think that first innings points has merit. also means there will be exciting games, because once a team has first innings points, the other team will be throwing caution to the wind to try and get an outright. wont be like the normal season where avoiding outright defeat is a good thing mostly, teams will be setting up 150 run chases etc to try and jag a win.

5 that i can count.
NSW: 1928-29, 1931-32, 1932-33
SA: 1935-36, 1938-39
Not sure how many matches etc he played in any of those seasons, but those were the titles won whilst he was at each respective state.

Would have been a large portion I'd imagine. In those days they had the time to play Sheffield Shield & Grade Cricket along with the international schedule, which was only Test matches.

Given the opposition in that time was only England and South Africa for the most of his career....

I would think Arthur Kippax was The Dons Captain when they played for NSW [Bradman may have captained if Kippax was unavailable ?]
The Dons last dig for NSW was 128
He came to SA for the 1935/1936 season
He was given the SA captaincy
On debut the Don made 117 , hence his last dig for NSW and first for SA were tons
The irony was that the 117 was against NSW as well
1. 1935/1936
SA won the SS in the Dons first season and as Captain
I would say that would be the first SS that Don won as captain
2 1938/1939
Next SS win as captain was in 38/39
Once again in the first game the Don made a ton , this time in both innings 107 +113
WW2 took its turn
SA did not win the SS again until 1953 ,The Don had retired a few years earlier
So I reckon he captained at least 2 SS winning teams for SA
And perhaps none for NSW
But will stand corrected if wrongggg
