Taking tea now.
Will be 3hrs of play remaining in the day but more rain expected around 6pm so that could mean only 2hrs of play possible

Carey throwing Murphy to the wolves. Or Murphy is a better batsman....
Strange tactics to take a single early in the over

Carey has no intention of facing up here.

Broad gets Murphy 18

Carey is devoid of all confidence.

Helluva win and just a tremendously fun series. Always weird with no winner but Australia played the smarter cricket the first 2 tests and then we came home with a wet sail. Fitting for broad to take final wicket, been an incredible ashes warrior.

So pretty much Bazball dominated the Ashes and if not for rain Manchester would have won the thing.

Test cricket is changed.

Similar to how Sri Lanka changed ODI in the mid-late 90s.

Bazball may struggle against a captain who doesn't jump at shadows

I think it will work, attacking cricket has always been an advantage but of course you need the right players to execute it. If you just had a bunch of Brooks and Duckets in the side it wouldn't work. Having guys of the calibre of Root and Crawley means it will work.

I reckon the series in India will be very interesting. I'll be watching that one.

Yep, there needs to be a balance.

Bazball works by smashing the bowlers, having the fielding captain not holding their nerve and spreading the field. Then the easy 1s and 2s are there to keep the score ticking over

Australia should have been 3-0 nil up, had the poms 6/171 chasing 251 with No 8 & 9 at the crease.

The fact another miserable English summer cost them the Ashes brings me no end of joy. F*ck them and their whinging supporters. Moral Ashes my arse.

Great comparison to SL of the 90;s

Never loved opposition players more than Kaluwithirana and Jayasuriya.

Nah that doesn't work coz you could say England most definitely should have won the first test if not for the Cummins/Lyon partnership and Roots very generous declaration (which will be part of the refinement of bazball)
