It’s only a couple of speaking engagements that the woke CA replaced him, so a grossly misleading headline.

Ian Smith is the best going around these days

Have enjoyed Wasim Akram's commentary and banter this summer as well, lot worse than him going around

Foxtel had a great team OZ V PA
Akram , Smith, Vaughan from overseas added to a great local team headed by Junior , Howie and Gilly ,
Also Isa Guha , might just be the best feMALe commentator off all time

Agree Mal, add Hussey to that group aswell.
I think Ponting (who is the best IMO) Blewett, Katich and Tim Lane are channel 7's best commentators. Waqar Younis was good and he has a good replacement as Ian Bishop who is commentating on the Heat v Hurricanes match tonight is joining Channel 7 for the West Indies Test series.

Never usually watch cricket on 7, but had to switch over from Fox the other day as it was raining cats and dogs and the satellite dish had a moment. Luckily I was able to switch back in a few mins as I couldn’t stand the coverage.

Get ready for Warner next year on fox :Hangman:

Both channels have some very good commentators but I prefer 7 because their worst few (Hayden and Langer) are much better then Howie and O'Keefe.

IMO

O'Keefe would be better suited to one of those Fringe shows you pay $12 to get in and see 6 people try and make you laugh, you inevitably leave without one chuckle.

I’m with you.
I watch 7 over foxtel most days of the test but if they ever have Hayden and Langer together I’d switch straight to foxtel.
Have they ever commentated together?

Yes, they commentated together once in the Perth test. Not sure if it happened again after that as I was forced to saw my ears off.

Even worse, they teamed up for the opening session of the match IIRC.

I’m pretty sure I posted on here during or shortly after the experience, it was like a turtle trying to play the harp

Tuned into to a little bit of SEN coverage from the Sydney test.

At one stage Gerard Whateley had this piece of commentary, when explaining the field.

"And Head is under the helmet at short leg"....

Makes sense really, where else would your head be I thought.

From the vault, John Arlott on Kiwi Bob Cunis …

Bob couldn’t be described as medium pace because he wasn’t quick enough. But he couldn’t be called a spinner because he didn’t spin it.

At the end of a long’s day play, after several bottles of red wine, Arlott advised his listeners:

“And, as for Cunis, his bowling, like his name, was neither one thing nor the other.”
