What do we expect from Carey with the bat average wise & if we were to drop him the incumbent to come in & average? Below shows Carey has been reasonably in line with all of our previous keepers bar Gilchrist who is so much of an exception being that good. Pressure will come but is anyone most likely Inglis going to come in and average 6+ more runs than him & be a significant improvement?

KEEPER MATCHES AVERAGE
Gilly 96 47.6
Haddin 66 32.98
Wade 36 29.87
Paine 35 32.63
Nevill 17 22.28
R Marsh 96 26.51
CAREY 26* 31.42

Carey just got a two year deal from CA, I don't think he's going anywhere for the moment especially now being out of the one day team.

Just open the batting with him and play Green & Marsh, strengthens our tail, gives our quicks less toil.

You're dreaming. Taking away my SA bias, Carey is the best glovesman in the country and his batting average is better than most keepers

You surely can't type that and honestly say he has kept anywhere near what his supposed best is. Hes keeping as a whole has been very average for Australia and a massive let down.

If you were judging his keeping over his whole test career you couldnt be giving him much more than a 'C' grade.

Bit harsh mate!
He’s no Healy or Marsh but he’s as good as Paine or Haddin behind the stumps.

His best i would agree with but there has been some ordinary periods of keeping from him.

He would be in double figures for catches dropped to his low right in between him and first slip. IIRC after his first ten tests he had more drops than tests played.

He deserves credit though for the way he kept in India. Recollection was he was pretty tidy that series which is a big tick.

Remarkability in the OZ innings of 318
All 10 dismissed were caught
And I know you want more
All 10 catches were taken by fieldsmen with the letter A in their surnames...

52 sundries 2nd highest score, shows just how fragile the Australian batting lineup has become

Its like him and Smith have a contest to see who can take the longest to get off the ground.

Is the incoming batsman at the crease & ready?
No?
Then there's no need to rush off!
It shouldn't make you cranky...........unless you just don't like him.

Carry the bat by the handle and get the f*ck off.

Smith nearly shaking his own head off yesterday before reviewing an LBW.

Cummins running to Carey for a caught behind not looking back at the umpire.

All petulant behaviour.

Maybe its time for Marnus to be fined for dissent. Smith most certainly should be.
Lets put a stop to it for good, we dont need thousands of kids carrying on like this in the future. Its already irritating enough with the young generation shouting "no run" when its not required, exaggerating their leaves and posing for the camera after every ball

Although I think you guys are carrying on like grumpy old men about it I'm continually surprised that Labuschagne and Smith aren't cited more for dissent because of their reactions once they are dismissed over the last three years in not just Test Cricket but in Sheffield Shield and County Cricket too.
