Again CA program the summer of domestic T20 around TV ratings and not what is best for our national team.

Starc gets form for the Six-and-outers bowling at blokes who don't give a shit if they get out or not, Agar gets fitness and form bowling 1 over spells, (enough form to bring him into the 4th Test squad!), while the likes of Pattinson and Cummins make a bid for an Ashes call up with 1/25 off 3.

Meanwhile the sponsors, "club", fans and TV networks pay big coin to get hacks like Carberry, Hales, Flintoff etc etc out here to fatten up their wallets and waist lines.

******* T20.... Big Bash.

When else are they going to have it?

And if they get almost as many to a single big bash game in Brisbane as the entire test match I can't really blame them either.

I forgot to mention that the domestic one-day competition was run and won in October, 5 months ( 5 MONTHS!!) before the World Cup.

So the one-day World Cup squad will be picked on T20 and Test match form ( or simply reputation ), Test match sides will be selected on T20 form ( as Agar was brought into the 4th Test squad ) ...?

Big Bash? Start or finish the summer with it, or both. Half of the games in October, get the "fans" into the game. Play the one-dayers as they used to, around the Shield fixtures, finish the summer with some Big Bash as you might keep people interested after a long summer of cricket.

The only thing is international players in the sides, and let's be fair, the top line internationals that come here are T20 whores who would go to Iraq for the right money. So they can fly in / fly out for 2 weeks at the start and end of the season.

the main reason why the big bash is on now is that it is school holidays and kids are the main reason this has been a success.

Play the Shield at the same time, if that weakens the sides for the Big bash so be it. Would rather guys playing shield now and the BBL sides can me made up of overseas players and players not in the Shield side
Absolute disgrace that guys are getting picked for tests on the back of some hit and giggle games.

This seems to be a sensible optioin but won't garner enough ratings so it won't happen.

People used to go to one dayers too. When they introduce 10/10 in 20 years you won't get two men and a dog to Teeball.

Hehe.

20/20 is the perfect length of time for young kids and TV. No reason to shorten it further.

Exactly where does it stop!!!

T20 is a phase in cricket which as others have said other than financial benefits doesn't have many positives to cricket overall

Much like the AFL in SANFL argument all good and well to get 40k to a t20 but if that doesn't equate to numbers at test games and potentially draws people and in particular children away from test cricket then it's doing more harm than good

The story of t20 will be told in the next 10 years

In all seriousness Benny do you admit that t20 could create generations of cricket fans with no interest in test match cricket

If test match cricket crowds dropped because of increasing crowds in t20 do you think this is a positive for cricket overall

Would you like t20 to be the most prestigious, valued form of cricket

There in lies the problem, kids lack attention spans now as it is, try keeping them focused on something longer than a couple of ........oh, look, there's a bloke who looks like that guy I saw in that Vine video last Wednesday. I think it was Wednesday. It was when I went to Maccas with Deano. I think it was Deano.

Anyway, attention spans, they'll struggle to comprehend the 450 overs over 5 days concept and what we, I trust you agree, know as the more pure form of cricket, Test cricket, will be a sideline to the *ahem* "Big Show".

I think for a great number cricket-interested adults, Test Cricket is still the pinnacle.

Kids grow into adults at some point (i'm still waiting for it to happen though).

I agree with all of your points.

1. A generation with no interest in test cricket? Maybe, but some of them will no doubt be converted. At least that's what you would want/hope. There are even a whole bunch of adults I know that will watch t20 that won't watch a test match

2. Certainly not, but I don't believe at this point it has had as detrimental effect on the game of cricket than some would like to believe. At least in Australia. Not saying that couldn't change, needs to be a balance. I reckon that balance is almost perfect in Aus at the moment, in West Indies and India most likely not.

3. One again no way, but I don't see why it shouldn't be as valued as one day cricket for instance. Test is and always will be the pinnacle for me and most of us.

I don't necessarily think of this being a fixed pie that needs to be carved up between the three forms, I think T20 is expanding the people who might see cricket as worthwhile entertainment.

When the last T20 world cup was on, i have never showed very little interest on how we went. in fact had to ask a mate at the pub to how we were going.

I dare say i wasn't the only one.

T20 = hit and giggle.
