A very strong squad. 15 of that squad would be up to the task.
I continue to have doubts on Neser and believe Burns was awarded a spot out of a sense of loyalty (Marcus Harris is more deserving on form.)

Of the potential debutants, Pucovski has to start. Swepson and Abbott are having break out years, and Green is just plain ridiculously talented, but will probably have to wait til January for his debut.

Good times ahead.

You don't rate him at all?
Has a very, very good first class record, the most Sheffield shield wickets for Tasmania and very consistent so has deserved to be in contention for higher honours.

I agree TDK. Although about 986 of his wickets have been against the Redbacks.

He's in a similar position to Trent Copeland which I think you mentioned him the other day? They share that similar position with Chadd Sayers too.

I wish Cricinfo had a stats analysis for the Sheffield Shield so we could see how many wickets Bird has taken against each state, I'm not sure if there's another website that does it?

He goes alright and yes he does have an impressive first class record but to me the Australia A players should be up and comers, he’s never going to play test cricket again, I just find it funny that they’d waste money on accomodation etc to select 19 players for our B Grade team, moreso that there are 4 players in the real team that will not come into consideration for the first test unless COVID sweeps the squad.

Give some kids or fringe players the exposure to see if they’re up to it.

Just my 2 bobs worth.

Fair enough mate, can understand that point of view, I agree with you in that we probably won't see Bird play test cricket again with the four world class quicks he has in front of him (might be the best option out of the others though as it could be argued he's just in front of all of Neser, Abbott, Conway, Steketee and Sutherland.)

Most of those guys selected are fringe test players/already in the team and wanting more time in the middle with only a few up and comers. Moises Henriques is a consistent first class cricketer but he is a more abstract selection than Bird.

Shaun Marsh is almost 38, a bloke at that age who averages less than 35 at Test Level shouldn’t be anywhere near the Test side.

Although the 5 you listed are less talented than Bird you are right, they'd be in front of him, I just see an "A" team as an opportunity to give some kids some exposure, more for the bowlers as generally it's rare to see batsmen crack the test side on a permanent basis before they turn 25, even up to 30 in a lot of cases, we are seeing younger ones break through nowadays though.

As for Moises, it makes zero sense, maybe he's just a really good bloke or plays for nothing? I have him in the Marcus North category, halfway between domestic and international level.

With the Adelaide test literally a month away there has to be some doubt doesn’t there. Especially considering CA won’t be able to make a last minute decision given they would need to move venues, sell tickets, inform broadcasters etc

Having a match is much more important to CA than having a match in Adelaide.

Watched Harris make 71 the other day and he struggled to hit the ball off the square. Yeah he's made more runs than Burns (not much to beat there) but I reckon Harris has a long way to go. A full year for the Vics wouldn't hurt him.
