Fair game from Lyon:
1st inns: 2/83 and 24*
2nd inns: 6/122 and 38*

Fair to say he played his part.

Umpires not calling no balls
Terrible shots by both sides top orders gifting catching practice
Starc looked underdone (hopefully better for the run )
australian extras basically dicide the game
Good fight from Aussies today
Khloi still a tosser

Moving to Perth thoughts are
Finch or handscome make way for m marsh or stonis will need an extra bowler I feel
Wait on paines finger (Carey to debut if it doesn't come up goat to skipper )
Need our top order to stand up and some one go big

My 11
Harris
Uzi
S marsh
Finch
Head
M marsh / stonis
Paine/Carey
Cummings
Starc
Lyon
Hazelwood

Thoughts

No balls missed was unbelievable, just watched an interview with Ricky Ponting over them, made his thoughts well known, especially with one particular Indian bowler who was over stepping regularly and not called. They showed some vision of some not called and even Stevie wonder would have known they were no balls to call.

They cannot bring M Marsh back into the side, cant score a run for WA and after his performance after being dismissed in the 1st Innings of the latest match shows how much of it's all about me it is. Would go for Stonis

Finch has to go, not up to test standard and he has lost his thought process, would bring in Burns to replace him, has test experience and is scoring pretty well in the Shield season so far.

Carey for Paine if the finger is as bad as it looks, thats a no brainer (wait we are talking about the Aust selectors so they will probably bring Wade in)

Hearing Starc has some injury worries, guess they will bring in Bird for him.

If Paine misses, be interesting to see who gets the captaincy

On the no ball issue, when would be the last time an umpire actually called a front foot no ball in real time? I imagine they are told to not bother watching it and just concentrate on watching where the ball is pitching etc

Monday Math:

Kholi; Average: 18.5 and SR: 25.7
Lyon; Average: 62 and SR: 83.3 Average not quite right as he wasnt dismissed but for the exercise it will do

Lyon > Kholi, therefore Kholi still #2

If they call up Wade then we aren't serious. He's a shit keeper and can't bat at this level.

Carey has to come in and bugger me Nick Marsh gets the captaincy.

Not overly disappointed in the result. Finch doesn't snatch it and makes 40 we win.

Great test match wicket. Way better than one team making 500 in the first innings and batting for 2 days.
No balls not called shits me!

Yeah it's been happening for a few years now. Umpire's laziness in this regard is costing teams runs. Just about the only time the batting side gets credited with a no-ball is when it's picked up on a DRS referral.

Just watched the replay of the wickets from the Australian second innings, again alot of guys throwing their hands at the ball away from their body and nicking up. Seemed to be the theme of the test match.

Agree about the pitch Tigerpie, for me it's better when the ball dominates the bat and batsman have to work hard for their runs. It showed just how good Pujara's innings was. Man of the match for him and a 16th test match century, exactly what Rahul Dravid did 15 years ago.

Kohli becomes the first Asian captain to with test match wins in Australia, England and also South Africa. I liked seeing his celebration after winning the match, it shows how much it means to him, people might think he's a d!ckhead but it's good to see the passion he has, that want to win and that bit of mongrel we need in the Aussie side.

Yep, mentioned this the other day. In the 3rd test between Sri Lanka and England after reviewing the footage it was found that 40% of Sandakan’s deliveries were no balls. He bowled 22 overs so you are talking about 50-60 no balls and that’s just from one bowler in one innings. He was called for none by the onfield umpire

He averages 50 + with the bat this season
He averages about 30 with the ball this season
He was in the squad that played Pakistan last series

His batting this Sheffield Shield season
13
57*
56
62
17
4
27
76*

Good numbers with the bat
One might ask, yeah but he does not convert his starts
But this Queensland player bats mainly at 8

Is he close to national selection ...

He seems to have been pigeonholed as a T20 player to a degree.
The figures you quote make a good case.

If Paine doesn’t get up then Hazlewood is skipper I presume

Its not really that difficult to umpire.
But they're clearly too scared now.

Id be encouraging the non strikers to keep an eye on front foot no balls.....

I reckon Paine was letting Dharmasena know all about it when Sharma was bowling today.

Finch may stay if Paine is out of action to captain the side i believe.

Carey maybe close to a game as a bat in any case.

Sorry but i have said it before, Handscombe should not be playing test cricket.

Next test series ????

WARNER
?
?
SMITH
?
?
CAREY
CUMMINS
STARC
LYON
HAZELWOOD

The other player should be KHAWAJA
My personal proviso being , he must open the batting, to get a few sighters before the spinners come into the attack
Like what happened against Pakistan

What’s the point of going back to Warner now? Let’s just forget about that **** and get games into a younger/better bloke.

Out of the 3 suspensions Warner is the least deserving of a recall. His actions in the immediate aftermath and subsequent months have been poor. The other 2 have got on with the job of playing club cricket, rebuilding the trust they destroyed.

Renshaw
Harris ( and let them be for a while, let them become opening partners )
Khawaja
Smith
Head
Stoinis/Laubunche (sp)
Carey
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Lyon

Carey > Paine with the bat, can play the batting all-rounder.
