Is playing a recognised spinner a thing of the past these days?

Maxwell will probably bowl. No Australian spinner ever does good against India anyway

I believe that squad is only for the first 3 matches at the WACA, the Gabba and the MCG? They could always look to change it for the matches in Canberra and Sydney and bring in a specialist spinner.

That surprised me and Nathan Lyon isn't even an out so he didn't play in our last ODI series in England either.

I would love an explanation why Lyon isn't considered for ODI cricket. Pattinson aswell for this upcoming series.

And maybe Smith too. I wouldn't be relying on getting 10 overs out of Maxwell.

Was given. They want him playing Big Bash with a view to the T20 world cup.

Re: Australia vs India ODI squad
Trevoe Hohns gave teh reply on ABC radio two days ago that Lyon is very much in the frame for ODIs but the squad has been picked with two of the first three ODIs in Brisbane and Perth, in mind.
would n't be surprised if he gets a go in Canberra and Sydney.
Based on Hohn's language, Lyon would be in the frame for selection for the three T20s at the end of January

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yep, Mark Waugh also said as much the other night.
Pattinson being managed, hence why he wasn't included

No Starc, Johnson, Cummings and yes even Shane Watson from our World Cup winning team and the bowling attack looks very light on for mine.
Should be some very high scoring games in the series.
Australia 3-2.

Re: Australia vs India ODI squad
I laughed at The Paris selection when I saw it at first and have since watched him twice on TV, once live on Tuesday and now tonight and I have to ask WTF???
Perhaps someone will come forward with some stats to support the selection but if he plays against the Bollys he will get pounded like Mick Lewis. I just don't see how there isn't 6 or 7 bowlers ahead of him.

Agree Wristy odd selection isn't it but in ODI cricket it's all about looking to the next World Cup. With injuries to first choice and second choice bowlers the selectors want to give the young fella a go as they obviously see something in him, what they see we'll find out when he's in the green and gold.
I would of liked to see Jason Behrendorff in the squad, his name has come up a few times in terms of ODI cricket in the last year or two. Mark Waugh said the other night that the selectors were worried about picking him after coming back from injury. Thought that was a pretty weak reason not to pick him, looks to be bowling pretty well at the moment. He's been around for a few years now and showed alot of promise, only 25 and I thought he was one of the next bowlers in line.

All about having a look at players. They hand out one day caps like lollies these days. THe world cup is the only ODI matched that matter.
