No hatred from me. Absolutely admire his longevity and in particular his commitment to test cricket.

Maybe slightly unfairly i probably put him in a similar category to Warner. He's absolutely in the greats discussion but his away record averaging 30.45 per wicket with a strike rate of 64 probably has him a bit behind some of the other great bowlers we've seen. (eg McGrath was 22 home/21 away).

In saying that its probably the nature of being a genuine swing bowler in which you do need some favorable conditions. Could be the greatest genuine swing bowler ever. Depends on if you consider Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Richard Hadlee swing bowlers.

Akram is in a class of his own IMO.

Hadlee/McGrath are the two best seamers I've seen, the seemed to bowl faster than what they actually bowled the way they bamboozled the batters.

Younis revolutionized the reverse swing, coupled with his sheer pace he was often unplayable, lucky for the cricket world he was only 6 foot tall.

Bit unfair to say he's warner like. Jimmy had one of the great bowling series in India in 2012 for us to win there and was fantastic In 2010/11 here to for us to win. His average would be inflated due to how poor he was early in his career away from home. He's been our best bowler away from home for the last decade and I'd say his average if you just looked over that period away from home would be much better then 31.

Hes not in the McGrath class but he's still just had a wonderful career.

Pretty incredible. Hope he has one last great ashes in him and gets to 700 wickets during it.

The ICC Rankings have been updated and Anderson is now the number one ranked bowler in test cricket.
Cummins was ranked number one for four years and five days.

Has Chris Tavare made a comeback?

Brook another 50. Solid recovery how green that pitch was.

Root 50*
England 3/182 from 45 overs, partnership of 161

The Ashes should be pretty good competition. Our Harry and ex-skip should match your Marnus and ex-skip.

Harry Brook the new Anglo Saxon Brunette Bradman?

Is Harry the most destructive 'TEST' batsman off all time ?
Surpassing Viv Richards, Adam Gilchrist and a few others perhaps ?

Rain has given the Kiwis a break but not before Joe gets a ton as well

Looking forward to the Ashes to see how the Aussie attack handles this brutal assault on bowlers

Great to see Joe just bat like he does. He's struggled at times to find his groove in this new England set up but he's always been a class above and should just play his way. Brook is an unbelievable talent, that pitch was tough at the start and he made it look easy. Crawley has to drop out for Bairstow in the ashes, not sure how that will work but honestly Crawley is just a walking wicket when it swings.

Root doesn't need to change anything in the new 'Bazball' set up and he showed that today.
Bairstow in for Crawley or in for Foakes (and take the gloves again) seems to be the two options when he's ready to come back.
