I’d move Head on as well.
All teams have at least one power hitter.
We have no one.

Yep, Head takes up a fair bit of cap for minimal games.

I reckon Renshaw is on a fair whack as well.
This season worked out to around $1,000 per run!! Now he'll get signed on a long term deal with the Redbacks (as has been mentioned on here before?).

Really? He's right up there with Matt Short for uselessness, them two should be paying subs and ball fees to play.

Lightning Crashes
Wes Agar: 12 @ 12 (33)/ 22 @ 20.8 (8.36). Improving but should not be used during power plays. Keep.
Danny Briggs: 55 @ 13.8 (149)/ 11 @ 31 (7.42). I didn't mind his stump to stump bowling, I don't think he costs too much either. Keep.
Alex Carey: 425 @ 32.7 (122). Was a bit hot and cold, needs to just stay as an opener. Keep.
Harry Conway: DNB/ 2 @ 35.5 (7.10). So we get rid of Stanlake and replace him with another dud, and I can't like him. Delist.
Ryan Gibson: 100 @ 20 (139)/ 0 wkts (10). No appeal, basically a bit spak-filla, we may aswell save some money on accommodation and have a local list clogger. Delist.
Travis Head: 70 @ 17.5/ 1 @ 44 (7.33). Had a very forgettable BBL 10, I think he bowls tidy enough to play an extra batsman. Keep.
Rashid Khan: 61 @ 12.2 (135.6)/ 16 @ 16.8 (6.87). I think there's nothing to lose by elevating him up the order, no great loss if he gets out but could slap 30 odd in no time. Keep.
Michael Neser: 3 @ 3 (33.2)/ 4 @ 22.8 (7.58). Didn't play enough to form a fair assessment. Keep.
Harry Nielsen: 36 @ 18 (116.1). A decent back up for Carey that wouldn't cost the earth. Keep.
Liam O'Connor: 2 @ 2 (50)/ 2 @ 50 (6.67). No shit, I'd love to face him, if we don't have an adequate leggy, don't play one, it's not a pre-requisite for an 11. Delist.
Matthew Renshaw: 207 @ 15.9 (107.3)/ 0 wkts (9.8). Unless we're getting him for the shield side then it's a big fat no. Delist.
Phil Salt: 310 @ 20.7 (130.3). Just doesn't deliver enough for an import, poor strike rate too for an alleged power hitter. Delist.
Liam Scott: 10 @ 10 (83.3)/ 0 wkts (14). We should ban all Liam's from representing the Strikers. Delist unless he's willing to volunteer his services.
Matt Short: 37 @ 7.4 (97.4)/ 0 wkts (8.5). Some people have a bad game here or there, this fella is just having a bad career, do we get a rebate for having this bloke in our squad? Delist.
Peter Siddle: 0 @ 0 (0)/ 19 @ 17 (7.5). Had a brilliant BBL10, gets better with age. Keep.
Cameron Valente: 1 @ 1 (20)/ 1 @ 36 (9). Not much to say here, a cheap make up the numbers type operator. Keep.
Jake Weatherald: 433 @ 36.1 (141). A shining light this campaign, we need him opening the batting though, cost us IMO. Keep.
Jono Wells: 263 @ 26.3 (106.1). Had a poor season by his own standards, still has enough to offer and we need right handers. Keep.
Daniel Worrall: 72 @ 24 (138.5)/ 10 @ 27.1 (7.29). He really came of age this tournament, I love watching him bowl, why he got subbed out for the final remains the biggest mystery of the season. Keep.

The issue of having a star like Rashid is you have to pay a big chunk of your salary cap to keep him, on top of Head and Carey (4 years deal) you don't have a lot left for others, hence you need more "role" players that other squads.

Bit hard on Renshaw IMO, was Heat's 2nd highest run scorer last year and has hit a 50 ball 90*, only 24 and signed a 3 year deal with the Strikers. Thought he struggled with the change of clubs this year and his role, but should be good for next season.

Averages under 23 with a 122 strike rate throughout his career, I don't rate his T20 ability and would prefer him to play elsewhere, I think we could find better value.

Totally agree with your opening paragraph, there should be some sort of concession for CA contracted players that are unavailable for T20 duties, there should also be some sort of concession to keep players in their home state.

Get rid of Head, far too many games where he cant hit it off square like in the final. Apart from his NYE innings not sure he's done alot. We need someone more dynamic that can hit 40 off 15.
Even tempted to get rid of Rashid if it means we have a better baleanced team.
Hard for us to make any of these calls though without knowing who gets what salary

Exactly, maybe Head's mind is caught in the middle of both formats? As for Rashid, I just think we could utilize him better, he is a match winner and a confidence player, we just need a couple of slappers that can score at 130+ and make 30's and 40's on a regular basis.

I think we have a good nucleus of a side to work around, I'd prefer to have a left/right opening combo though, on paper our best side looks quite strong but our batting is as bit thin, we have too many left handers though.

Weatherald
Salt*
Carey
Head
Wells
Rashid
Neser
Worrall
Briggs
Agar
Siddle

Moving forward I'd replace Salt or chuck Rashid up there and find a free flowing right handed middle order batsman, Renshaw is not going to be our saviour, T20 is not his thing.

TEAM OF THE SEASON
Alex Hales
Josh Philippe
Chris Lynn
Colin Munro
Jordan Silk
Dan Christian
Daniel Sams
Jhye Richardson
Adam Zampa
Peter Siddle
Mujeeb Ur Rahman

X-Factors
Ben McDermott
Wes Agar

Not sure how Turtle Silk gets a gig, there's a few players with more runs, higher averages and higher strike rates that didn't make the cut.
Good to see Dan the Man get a gig, a bit more to go in the super fund yet.

PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT
22: Josh Philippe.
20: Alex Hales.
19: Jhye Richardson.
18: Glenn Maxwell.
17: Ben McDermott, Chris Lynn, Colin Munro.
16: D'Arcy Short.
15: Shaun Marsh, Jake Weatherald.

Mujeeb only played 8 matches to make the team?

Currently playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 league along with Fletcher, Pooran and Benny Dunk!

Just read, that was cricket.com's "unofficial" team, apparently there's an "official" team too which includes McDermott, Rashid, Steakette and Agar, it has Stoinis and Sams as the X factors, Silk, Lynn, Siddle and Rahman don't make that one.
