VB SERIES SQUAD

Postby Tiger Couple » Thu Dec 29, 2005 12:00 am

What do people think the likely Australian VB Series squad will be? Will we look to keep on blooding players towards the @007 World Cup or look for the best team to win it?

My Squad:
1. Katich
2. Jacques
3. Ponting
4. Symonds
5. Clarke
6. Hussey
7. Haddin
8. Clark
9. Hogg
10. Lee
11. McGrath
12. Hodge
13. Bracken

No Gilchrist, Punter? You saying he is past it, form dropped off that much or age against him??? I reckon if Gilly is still around then, he be a cert.. Small grounds in the West Indies, he could destroy them.. In saying that I do like Jacques.. Wouldn't have Katich, reckon he is very overrated..

Yeah, not bad Punter but I'd have Gilchrist in instead of Katich. I do believe that you can play Gilchrist and Haddin in the same side.
Tait in instead of Bracken. Doesn't bother me that he is only just coming back from injury. The selectors have shown that they rate Tait highly so why not give him a run in a series that they don't take as seriously as they used to (despite whatever they say to the contrary in the media).
Add Dorey if 14 are chosen.

Gilchrist is out of my side for VB Series as I think he needs a break as it coulf be the last decent break he could get for a while.

OrDoubleBlues I think your point is valid and I would bring Gilchrist in for Katich after he has had a rest and take the keeping load off him and just play him as a batter and leave Haddin to keep. It gives them more room to move with different line ups.

I'll might put Cullen in. We need an Off spinner. Just look at who the players said today in the Cricket Show all but one said that the next one to play should be Cullen.
