Bloody bandwagoner...what's he got to do with the Olympics...big tart.

Should be Olympians and only Olympians...but no doubt there'll be a host of 'z' list so called celebs and failed BB contestants...sounds dreadful :-&
A double decker bus surrounded by dancers????...Cliff Richard and 'Summer Holiday' anyone

A bit bizarre really :?

Really poor sound pickup via the tv broadcast, might've been okay in the stadium.
On the plus side, the girl can sing and Jimmy looked to be having a good time of it.

No surprise to see umbrellas feature in the cultural presentation!

I'm with you guys - Beckham, the token child and a reality TV star - doesn't really seem to embrace the Olympic ideals.

Even Princess Anne is a former olympian - does she get a role?
They could have had their famous male rower (who's name escapes me atm! ) on a mock River Thames.

Squawk I think you might mean Steve Redgrave...he's spent the Games presenting and commentating for the rowing events...was that in Beijing???

I think Anne is part of the organising committee and a former member of the IOC so that probably eliminates her.

I think they should have had an Olympian and not Beckham.

After Sydney and Bejing...ours is going to be such crap  I assume the dancers were falling about to represent binge drinking....didn't the lollipop lady look nice though

Yeah, Redgrave. Fair enough re Anne then. I'd expect Redgrave would have been in Beijing to do his commentary.....he could have easily stepped in on a makeshift River Thames!

Boris Johnson star of the night for mine. Looked like he had spent the afternoon in the hospitality tent. What do LOndoners/brits think of him?

IMO he's a bit of a joke...every comedians idea of a typical Tory. Usually looks like he's been dragged through a hedge. Talks like the upper class twit of the year...makes him popular as a guest on shows like 'Have I Got News For You'...most of the time he's no idea they are taking the p**s out of him.

Famous quote whilst he was campaigning (either for MP or Mayor not sure which)...'I can't remember what my line on drugs is. What's my line on drugs?'

Boris makes an impression on Arnie

Only reason I can see for Beckham being centre stage is that he was born in Leytonstone, Stratford, London which is where the Olympic venues are being built.

It will be interesting to see what London come up with in 2012. I guess increasing technology will ensure an even more spectacular games, but I just want to thank Beijing for some of the greatest memories in my life. Great job China.

Agree with AH on the great job China has done. Lets hope it mean better understanding and relations between them and us now...be great if it could.

Sadly our ceremony has now become a cross between the Radio 1 Summer Roadshow and a Queen (the band not monarch) tribute concert   Ah well.
