Regardless of the travel/fatigue factor, it is a hell of a strange thing to do to drop your best player by a mile before the biggest game in a long time unless he's injured. Perhaps Ange is looking for the result Guus got in 2005 by dropping Harry Kewell who came off the bench and played a blinder. Still, Kewell had far superior teammates than Mooy.

Ange has taken a number of risks recently, including this.

Constantly plays himself offside or gets the ball and his first movement is to pass it backwards
