Yea Ben has been on the track but more to keep fit than play BUT we would all love to see Ben playing again as I believe last year was one of his best.

Can I have some feedback re the Happy Valley cricket pitch and its covering over winter? Any injuries?

The reason I ask is that this year we have permanent matting laid and during winter it is covered in rubber balls. We are told this is the norm and it complies with OHS. We played a trial on fri night with no injuries but a few lads complained regarding carpet like burns?

They went straight from the old Glenelg South/Southern Metropolitan league to SFL. There were juniors in that league but always played on a Sunday.

So the same culture as SAAFL!!!

I wonder how many seniours go and watch the juniours on Sun??
I wonder how many seniours know their juniours by first name?
I wonder how many seniours know the captains of juniour sides?
We are a community based football league built around a family culture which has ALL grades playing on the same day. This is the strength of our comp and if you dont want to affilliate play SAAFL
Sort this crap out Directors!!!!

Good question Shoe Boy- I play at the valley and i had concerns about it last year. I have not heard anyone complain about any burns or anything but i dont reckon you would wanna get put down hard on it. It also feels strange underfoot when you jump or turn. To tell you the truth people generally avoid it. However I dont think the old way of sand or grass rolled out over the top of a concrete pitch is much better either!

Anyone read the write up previews for the SFL, in the messenger this week? A lot of crap being dished out!!!

My favourite being Mick Irvine from noarlunga saying they will concentrate on bringing up juniors this year, then lists his only INS as under 18s coming up, but makes sure he lists all the quality players his lost as OUTS (comer, dean, minns etc.).......... Whos he fooling, everyone knows they have recruited heavily! laughable.

Also noted if true, Morph Park have lost N.Pierson and L.Radley. Would be their best 2 players IMO. Big losses if true.

potatoe you seem to have an axe to grind regarding Noarlunga every time you post! Who are you aligned to???

As for the artical I have not seen yet.
Lets get a few FACTS out from your points.
"Concentrate on bringing juniours up "16 played A grade last year 11 are now seniours. If you have seen any trials you would of seen at least 6 playing A grade. Come to the seniour jumper presentation Sun and you will see how many juniours are presented with a seniour A jumper.

"Outs" quality players and they should be mentioned.
"Recruited Heavily"??? as heavily as who? we have picked up some lads but heavily??? I find it ironic you then mention M/Parks outs. Now there is a club that has recruited heavily just look up the clearences on the SFL. :|

Shoe Boy

For starters what are senioUrs and junioUrs?

U guys should be proud of your junior system down there, it is coming along really nicely, and I have seen many promoted and playing good senior footy. I just like the way he makes it sound like that is all that is going on at the shoe. He neglects to mention the various and many recruits you are bringing in to help (leyton, rigney, J.Smith, Guy from YP etc. etc.) Just sounds like he wants everyone to under estimate you, but each to their own, the articles are not taken under oath.

All the best for the year! 8)

Thanks for the english lesson.
After reading the artical I see your point but dont disrespect the lads named as they will be good players in their own right. The lads you named are new lads and he should of named some but others also chose to name very little.

played on it last week, its quite hard to land on when put down on there and definitely takes the skin off, feels a bit wierd when you run across it , but generally i would say not too different to a dirt patch across the pitch, they all suck and you just try and avoid them if you can
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!

i have heard from a mate that a lot of blokes are looking to get out of Happy Valley as the new coach is content with having trainings on a mon and wednesday evening, this doesnt fit with most blokes as people base there jobs and lives around being avaliable for tues / thurs evenings. Have heard two have left and possibly 3 more players looking for another club.

I have heard the same thing! Apparently the committee is also annoyed as they arrange their meals to be done on a thursday! Ben Porter has reportedly said give it a month and if it doesnt work he will change it! Heard this from a Valley committee member so shows some strength to the rumour!
