Yep, McCard was out there in the Ram guernsey again. It appears he was still on contract to Marion, and the clearance subsequently refused.
Looks like he'll have to confine his Bice Oval sport to cricket.

Didn't see DeLawyer, but there is no Boot until next week, so I couldn't be sure.

Blimey, they must have stopped dead in their tracks !! That was their halftime score
Only saw the first half, but that No.10 was all over the place again. Expect another super season from Toddy Johnstone.

Can confirm a few things for you guys. Morphy Parks B grade complained about pitch, a few SFL delegates had a look at it, made Valleys fix it with cricket mats. lost about a quarter of the game because of it. Also training for Happy Valley is on Tues and Thurs so all is good and can comfirm also that Morphy Parks might crack the top 6 this year, have recruited well (must be a bit of cash somewhere???) and the ruckmen that looks the goods is Seb Guilhaus played a few league games at Glenelg last year

All junior games start this coming week Shoe Boy ---- there were only A-Grade and B-Grade games at the Valley and Glenelg.
Meanwhile, how'd the Shoeys go against Hilly's mob ?

Any ruckman who has played league footy will dominate Southern. Southern is a very strong league but genuine ruckmen get paid alot more than southern league teams are willing to offer. So what happened to Morphy Pks on the weekend?

A good day at the Shoe BTP as 14/16 B and A lads got 4 quaters.

The A grade game was a good game to watch with good skills from 2 very young sides.
Scores were 14 got up by about 5 16 went down by about 5 B got up by about 5 and we are calling a draw in the A game.

Valleys were too good but if Morphy Parks kicked straight might have been a different story 7.17 doesnt win you any games. Also Porter gave the best 3 quarter time speech ive heard in a long while and it broke Morphy Parks 5 unanswered goals in the 3rd

What was the issues with the pitch??
Was it covered in little black rubber balls?

Yes covered in little black balls but was not suitable around the pitch as some areas were a little raised and may have rolled a few ankles, the council approved wat they had done but im sure now the Valley will make sure its never complained about again

I don't think SFL clubs are that far off what some country clubs can offer to be honest. I cannot comment on the whole league, but when you way up the travel and time invested I think SFL clubs are pretty close around the mark. I think overall there is a slight shortage in ruckman which is probably the main problem and if I were targeting talls I would be looking at the basketball leagues. Out of ten talls that are playing basketball surely 1 or 2 of them can kick a footy, it's just part of growing up in Australia that you learn to kick and catch...I know currently that I have 4 players in my basketball team I coach who play football and are quite handy. I think if you lure them at the age of 20 they would be very handy ruckman by the age of 23-24.
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

I went out and had a look at the quarter break and it was a cricket match with sand around the edges. I saw them re laying extra sand on it in between the B's and A's game. Would not be a lot of pleasure if you were tackled into that mat!!! It's basically like an indoor cricket surface maybe a little more give to it, but is not that safe really. What are their plans? Are they just laying dirt over the pitch now?
