No matter what tony had to say to those lads at the break he still would have made them confused! And sometimes i think he confuses himself.

Down the Hill wrote:Correct ZC about Anzac Day. We are all proud of the Anzac's but lets not get too sentimental. Some of you guys are suggesting its a great honor to play on Anzac Day. How would you know unless you play for MV, Rey or Brighton. This is the first time Anzac Day has fallen on a Saturday since 1998. I'm sure when Anzac Day falls on a weekday most of us get on the slops the night before and have a good sleep in on Anzac morning, waking up well after dawn. Is that showing respect? I think we've been a bit brainwashed by the Essendon / Collingwood stuff as to the honor of playing on that day. The significnace of the day should not be diminshed if you're playing footy or not and I'd hate to think that any of my clubs footballers will put an extra effort in on Anzac Day than they would in any other game for points or a final. Comparing footy to war and the Anzac's is always a bit iffy.

In 4 of the last 5 times it has fallen on a Saturday (1998, 1992, 1987 & 1970) matches were played on the Anzac Day Saturday
In 1981 the games were moved to Sunday 26th with a public holiday Monday

Sorry to sound like a "know it all" but the Holidays Act has never prescribed a extra Holiday when Anzac Day falls on a Saturday. Its only when it falls on a Sunday that we get the Monday. The leap year cycle is the reason why we have had an 11 year gap since the last Anzac Day Saturday, which is why so many people seem to forget what happens when Anzac day falls on a Saturday. For all those people who normally work on a Saturday, it is still a holiday. And for those who care, in 2011 Anzac Day falls on Easter Monday (for the first time ever) and the Government is in the process of gazetting to have the Holiday on Tuesday 26 April giving everyone an extra long Easter. We never play matches at Easter so the SFL will have to work out what to do with the GF replay when that occurs.

Congrats DTH, a fine innings with some delightful strokes to bring the crowd to their feet ... David Hookes-esk.

Out of interest, where the hell do you get all your public holiday facts and figures? This morning I was affraid you had kept calanders since 1964 to discover the last Saturday ANZAC Day. Now your talking the future and have got me puzzled.

One of the strengths of our comp is to go to the footy and watch a full day of grass roots footy from 14 to A and as a club we work our but off to keep it that way. But in its confused vision of what the SFL believes the comp to be they place clubs like ours in difficult positions ie playing our first game of 14/16/18 at Lonsdale v CB as Noarlunga the home team while our A/B play M/P at M/P round 2 and we as a squad 14/16/18/B/A travel to Hackham all good. Round 3 OUR first home game and they have us with 14/B/A ONLY making the 16/18 have a bye.Now we are informed that due to the Hackham footy club pulling 18 side Noarlunga will travel to CB and play our 18. We asked for this round only that CB should travel to the Shoe to play our 18 side thus giving both clubs 4 games. TO HARD  so the leyland brothers will travel away AGAIN!!!

SFL lets look after the clubs with full contingent of sides and when sitting down to programme the draw make this a priority.
If the draw needs to be shortend and we dont accomadate 9 home games each so be it and the clubs without full contingents play less home games.
Sides with full contingents must have a full squad at their HOME games.
Not to hard lads just toughen up and give some support to those THAT SUPPORT YOU.

Shoeboy, i support your view totally. Do you think the comp should be reduced to perhaps a ten team comp??
