Maybe it is a financial call? or you guys are looking at options? or a return to the SFL ?

The ol' mighty dollar is the reason behind many decisions...
I would imagine some amateur clubs are finding it hard to pay the entree fee and some players to keep up to speed in the SAAFL.
Wasnt that Edwardstowns problem?

I'm pretty sure that SAAFL "calls" includes their umpire costs. When Brighton were in SAAFL thats how it worked. In SFL in adddition to "affiliation" we pay on average $450 to $500 per week for umpires from Under 14 through to A grade plus another fortnightly payment for Mini's Umpires. Bottom line is that its still cheaper in SFL partly because we are only funding one paid administrator and maybe some contribution to the Umpires panel. In SAAFL they are funding several paid admin people plus an Umpires Director I believe. I don't think many SAAFL clubs are convinced they get value for money from their fees which is the reason why many are maybe looking at alternatives similar to Edwardstown.

The SAAFL calls no longer include umpires so it is even worse.

This weeks games look very interesting.

Brighton V Noarlunga I am sure the Shoes will respond with a much better effort for 4 quaters against the top of the table Bommers.

Cove V Townies Cove getting their act together and will give the Townies a lesson. Lets hope it is only on the field??

Flaggies V M/Park The giants from M/Park to win against an improving Flaggies

Hackham V Lonsdale Lonsdale to win and will they see the return of Baxter?

H/Valley V C/Beach Valley to continue from a great win last week so it means no sweendog for a nother week.

M/Vale V Aldinga M/V awesome last week and will win well.

Pt Noarlunga V Marion Porties for me and that means no Special for a week.

Good luck.

Shoe Boy,

Are Dean, Caudle and Minns playing for you this week as you alluded to earlier in the week?

Baxter back for the lions will be good for them, do you know what other SANFL Club players will be released?

Matches of the round:

Cove v Edwardstown - Cobras

Flagstaff Hill v M/Parks - Parks

Marion V Port Noarlunga - Porties

The rest will be straight forward one would think.

I see Manhood has been playing for Porties the last few weeks, anyone confirm that he re-injured his knee but is still playing? Observer?

Qwerty,

We will have to see.
As 2 have had limited footy due to injurie it would seem logical to go back and get some game time under your belt. BUT we are talking about SA here?

The big red fire engine Ash Baxter is still another week or 2 away with injury i think and i reckon he'd go straight back into South ressies as they have been performing poorly of late. Lions have quite a few out at the moment, we certainly wont take the Hawk's lightly.

I for one will be very interested in the result of the Happy Valley vs Christies game. The Valleys hit a little bit of form last week but were probably somewhat disappointed with the other losses to date. Christies were on a high after being 4 and 0 but have since been touched up by Morphett Vale and Brighton. Happy Valley are probably not quite at the level of M/V and Brighton so will this be a closer match than expected or are Christies still a long way off the top 6 teams???
