Good to have the gym at lonsdale, the guys that toughed it out and rocked up had a solid session in the gym. And to think we get bagged about our facilities. not to many other clubs have access to a full size gymnasium when it is pissing down with rain.

Quirky thing last week- all away teams won in the As and Bs.

Down the Hill (or anyone else)- has this happened before in recent times?

I'm good MatteeG but not that good. It would even test Bag the Points but should occupy his time for a while. Since we've been one division with a seeded draw we get this mid-season period of top sides playing bottom sides but it would only happen if the lower sides all happen to be the home team which would also be rare.

As DTH said --- I'm good but not that good.
Give me a few weeks/months/eons in the off season and it might be possible.

Watched the brighton vs morphie parks game sat and thought the umpires were good so dont no what your complaining about. They set the standard early with 2 send offs one from each side. You guys need to understand that brighton are a class above morphie parks and brighton had some big outs aswel which caused problems for brighton in the forward line. That is brightons weak link I would say. I also must say brookman did get touched up all day but no point wining ruck contests if your cant give it to your onballers which seemed to happen to m/parks a bit. Also i'm sure the council can re-design that oval to improve it knock the trees down 1 way streets at each end would be a start to provide more space.

anyone who thought them 2 umpires were good is from brighton... or has no idea wat so ever about football!!! they may not have made a difference in the result. but they were utter garbage!

Yes I was playing and I thought the main problem was the inconsistency!
I believe the 2nd quarter free kick count was 12-2.
But not blaming them we lost to a better team so that's done.

The team that plays the man and is second to the ball will always give away more free kicks than their opposition. We are used to these tactics from you guys and its fair to say that in both these games you were successful in keeping Brighton in check for fair chunks of the game, but your kidding me if you think you got rough deals from the umpies. Having said that, the young umpire in the Marion game and the older umpire in the Roo's game were sub-par in my opinion and struggled with the physicality of the football played but neither favoured one team over the other. It's attitudes amongst club officials and supporters like this that highlights why some clubs think everyone owes them something rather than getting off their backsides and getting their own house in order.

The fact that the younger umpire couldn't handle the physicality of the game, and fortunately it didn't quite spiral out of hand; even with 2 yellows and a red card, is of concern.
Also as i recall some of the contentious frees were holding-the-ball decisions, which indicates that in some instances Marion was first at the ball, not the man, so [b]YES[b] I do think we got a rough deal.
But at the end of the day you won and we lost, not because of the umpiring, but these forums are a chance to talk of sub-par performances

Yeah well everybody makes mistakes wheter it be a umpire or a player in the end! I thought they didnt do to bad in the end, it was more the inconsistancy between the two different umpires rather than one umpire being inconsistant i thought. Two different styles. Well done to the young bloke for getting out there we always need umpires!

Agree there has been alot of talk about the assault (and that is what it is called when you king hit someone) and if you do it on the other side of the fence you are arrested, hence when an off duty cop sees the incident that's why he was visited by the police.

down the hill-did u happen to see the c grade game on the weekend between us and you boys?if so wot did u think of the umpiring....i was there and it was the best umpiring ive seen in any grade all year.

No complaints from our end Cyclops so the umpiring mustn't have been as "one-eyed" as we thought it could have been. Apologies from Brighton for not supplying a Clubby. Our usual bloke was unable to do it and our back-up pulled out on the morning. Only 3 C grade games every Sunday this year and they still can't provide us with a full panel. By the way, Klomp has not been the sensation that many predicted so it shows how poor a standard the SAAFL A6, A7, C1, C2 ranks are and why we should show scant regard when their posters infiltrate our forum.

And how about this for a quirky aspect of last weekend that must be incredibly rare ---
Flagstaff had the bye, but moved up a position in both A-Grade and B-Grade
Obviously had something to do with lessening percentage of the sides they jumped over (Footy is strange)
Flaggy B's had the bye and found themselves promoted into the Top Four !!!!

i would like to say congrats to tom caudle who got selected in south's extended league squad. he has been waiting years for his league debut due to injury etc. and a credit to him for sticking it out when it could have been easier just to go back to his local club. all the best cauds
