Same as AFL.

1 v 4
2 v 3
5 v 8
6 v 7

Winners of first 2 games go into prelims losers play winners of second games.

Have seen Golding a couple of times and he is still all class. Big man big influence.
Francis not even sure if he has had a run. If he has hasnt heard much about him.
Hackham have improved slightly. still getting pumped but by average 10-15 goals less than normal. Although all Morphett Vale players kick a goal in the a grade on sat!

Fabian played against Reynella but played for about a half and then went back to the bench to coach for most of the second half.

SA Country Championships.

Heard a whisper that the SFL are considering fines and possible suspensions for Brighton, as well as a current suspended fine being imposed for not supporting the championships. They have they bye and are not being supportive apparently. :o

SFL board also very unimpressed with the two Morphett (Ville) (Vale) Clubs attitude apparently.

DTH is this true? I would have thought you would have at least a couple who deserve to play at the highest level they can?

How does the SFL qualify for the SA Country championships when it is a metro comp?
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

So would I be right in assuming that Wayne Pittman will be returning to play for the Emu's this week for the rest of the year? State's on the GSFL website that Pittman and Victor have parted ways.

Oh ok, I thought it was a done deal. Well I heard both parties had agreed to part ways and just thought he would more than likely go back to Morphies, my guess is he still will as the club seems to have a good culture so players always like to return.
As for myself, just starting to get more time back in the ruck and taking advantage of that. I also think the midfield make me look a bit better with their clearances. A long way to go though for the season, so hopefully the team can continue with their good form.
Have to admitt though, the Emu's would EASILY be the form side this season so far going on results. Looks like Cyclops' concerns early on with the coach may have been a little premature and the boys are hitting their straps once again, very reminiscent of the 4 years prior to last year.

Looking at the past 7 rounds, M/V have won on average by 159 points!!!
Compare them to Brighton, who have the luxury of playing the same team M/V played the week before and Morphett Vale have been the better team.
Hackham- 262pts
Lonsdale- 150pts (Brighton the following week- 129)
Morphettville Park- 129pts (Brighton-30pts)
Marion- 118pts (Brighton- 70pts)
Aldinga- 212pts (Brighton- 180pts)
Noarlunga- 110pts (Brighton- 105pts)
Christies- 135pts (Brighton 133pts)
That is good form!

And says something about the need for change in the SFL. Yes every loves to win and the M/vales of the world deserve the accolades for all their hard work, but not having a competitive match for seven rounds is sad indictment on the league.

I would have thought these results more than support the need for 2 Divisions. As against what we have now or a conference system which will still allow these results. At least 2 divisions allows clubs to be competative.

One result for the weekend was was under 50 points. This cannot be good for the long term strength of the league.

In relation to the goalkicking spread on the weekend:
Only recently, MV tried awful hard to get Fish a goal late in his 300th game as well... in a very similar situation. It didn't work, but it got the players excited when they we're 25+ goals up. It's all about drawing that extra bit of enjoyment out of a lifeless game. Decent effort too, to all get one.
The 6 previous results for MV has a tendency to leave u feeling shorthanded for quality footy and searching for new tools of motivation.

MV's margins probably more to do with more goalkicking power than Brighton. Compare that with Brighton's miserly defence and little separates the teams other than the fact that MV coudn't beat Townies and the Bombers did. Quite amazing that Bombers are top after 11 games with one loss and Sneezer is our leading goalkicker with 26. More than a 2 horse race though. Everyone has gone quiet on Reynella but they're still lurking and Cove are getting most of their 2008 unit on the park at the same time.

Vics01 churning out the 2 Divs again. The 2nd Div would be a joke with a sham of a junior comp for those clubs with some decent junior numbers currently. 2nd Div will just lose clubs through folding, merging or moving just like it did pre-2002 and we will find our way back to 1 Div again. You're a Cove man Vics. Cove's success has been based on the SFL going to 1 Div which enabled you to keep all your juniors because they were finally playing in the stronger comp.

i will be more than happy to eat my own words if bishop gets the shield back to emu park were it belongs.i do think he is coaching well at the moment but,the next 7-8 weeks then finals will be the big test for bishop.he definately has the cattle and wish him the best to get the boys bak were we belong.

What clubs folded pre 2002?
Correct me if I am wrong, but O'sullivans Beach were forced to merge with Mawson after they were kicked of the oval.
You can't fault the country clubs for leaving the SFL, they don't have the resources, population, and coin to compete in a metro comp. It was bound to happen whether we had one, two, or ten divisions.

Okay, I'll correct you :-)

Lonsdale and O'Sullivan Beach merged and used both ovals for a couple of years, until the soccer management made it too difficult to continue using O'Sullivan Beach complex.
