well if true, maybe the culture hasnt changed at reynella and there still trying to buy/recruit that premiership that eludes them.

IMO this player will only be taking the position of someone who has done all the hard work over the year. Thought early had changed this culture. i guess time will tell and be interesting to see the current players reaction to this????

My mail has it as Weetra, good mate of Iliza Where (sorry for the bad spelling.) who has been training with Reynella.

Do you mean Elijah Ware shoe boy? (As in Centrals)

surely they would be stoked, as any SFL club would... any club in the same spot would do the same thing!

Sounds like another "Butcher-gate" type of scenario to me.

Im sure we will here how happy the winies are to have him, only for him to take a club mans spot for some coin and run to another club the next year.

ask the player who gets dropped if he's stoked with the new signing???

as for "any club in the same spot would do the same thing".... what spot is that? realising you might just fall short again and that you need this player to be a realistic chance?

from what ive seen this year things seem to be going along well for you guys. wouldnt want any thing to ruin that at this time of year!!

Yes I know. Comment was made more in jest as it would be a very Reynella thing to do to undo all the good work they [i]appear[i] to be doing in 09 by going out and recruiting an overrated, high priced player to upset team balance.

Was going to add Adam Cockshell to the above names but then realised it might not be too far from the truth..!!

To be fair to Reynella, from what I have heard they haven't chased this player, a certain league club has sent him out for a few weeks to get some touch. I don't think there is any club that would say no to a ex AFL / current SANFL player turning up for a kick. Unfortunately that means someone will miss out, but he has trained the last 2 weeks with Reynella and all season at SANFL level. A welcome inclusion I would've thought!!!

Totally agree Book Worm. If its for the right reasons and the player is unanimously accepted then it could be a very big inclusion. BUT Reynella have been in similar circumstances before and it hasnt turned out too well.

Proof will be in the pudding come September i suppose...

For forum info. A player can be registered after 30 June if no clearance is required. A player can also be cleared to your club after 30 June if he has moved far enough away from previous club to make it impossible to keep playing at that club. SFL (and other SA affiliated leagues) will accept clearance on these grounds provided there are enough games left in season to enable player to qualify for finals. In our case that is 4 games.

sounds extreamly weird that a SANFL club would send a player to a local club instead of having a run in the reserves. i would of thought this is a no brainer.

also training for 2 weeks with no game i see as a negative for the player involved and not benifiting the SANFL club at all?

situation under control or not cyclops, this player may take the position of a true club man who has done all the hard yards. could you see early rewarding that? Who's to say he will even play at the wineflys next season? just reynella being reynella i guess.

every club has 3 or so fringe players if you didn't have that then you dont really have any depth so now this would make only two spots avail and the fringe players needing to strive to play a grade now. He wouldn't be taking anyones spot just be one less player swapping between the grades Surely otherwise their head isn't right if they drop the bundle you dont really want them in your team anyway

Im sure playing AFL last year and SANFL this year the player in mention would've done the hard yards. You don't play AFL by sitting on your ass. For all you know snappa he may have trained all year at a SANFL club. What gives a local lad more right than a bloke that has been training at SANFL. You have to play your best team. Who cares where he plays next year. Worry about that then. If he is eligible to play, then play him.
