Called in to Porties yesterday and it has a hive of activity with people hanging from light towers, and council and civil personal everywhere.
The oval looked the best condition I have ever seen and bar the covering of the cricket pitch I hope we see footy their in the near future.

It appears that it takes a tornado for council to support and move on maintance of ovals

Shoe boy,

What has happened down at the shoe? A month ago you looked like certain finalists and then dropped games that you would have to have thought you would have won. What in your opinion has gone wrong?

Also in response to your previous post i am lead to believe by the local rag that the oval is ready to rock and roll down in cockle diver land.

Can you guys still get in?

Qwerty if you are making reference to the "club" it has never been in better shape,if as I expect you make refrence to the A grade yes we are very dissapointed regarding the display in the past 2 weeks with due respect to C/Beach and Marion who both came to play.
We could make excuses for the Marion game with both ruckman out but that is no excuse for a game we dominated for 3 quaters as we have done many times this year and let ourself's down when it matters! There lays the issue "commitment when it matters"!!!!

As for can we make it YES but that is not the focus at this point as we would just be making up the numbers.!!

Actually Flagstaff Hill is the key !
Believe it or not, Noarlunga still look almost certainties. Their two remaining games are against Hackham (surely they will not blow that one), and then the Falcons.
Morphie Park are clearly the best side below the current top six, but even if they beat Marion this week they are at the mercy of Noarlunga's draw with the last-round bye. Only the Falcons can come to their rescue.

Probable Eight (and its now almost certain)

Morphett Vale
Brighton
Edwardstown
Reynella
Cove
Christies Beach
Happy Valley
Noarlunga
(top four could finish in any order.
I'm pretty certain bottom four will finish as above with two Elim Finals Cove v. Noarlunga and Christies v. Valley)

Shoe Boy,

Wasn't having a crack or anything and yes i was referring to your A grade. Just quiet on here thats all and was trying to get some talk going.

Noticed that you guys aren't hosting a prelim this year, would have been years since this wouldn't have happened. Wont be the same not going down to the shoe and watching a prelim, best place for finals footy in the SFL.

Agree it has been quiet.
Yeah we start the finals off this year with 1 v 4 and should be a great day. followed by the following Sat.

C/Beach have a prelim but agree the atmosphere at Christies is poor (as is the tiny excuse for a cup of tea) and the Shoe is a great place when it is packed.

Thanks Shoe Boy ... I can't recall you ever saying anything nice about Flaggies before !!!!
We'd gladly accept the kegs, but I'm sure the boys are relishing the chance to finish our season on a high and play a part in shaping the finals ... even if we aren't part of it.

Should be a good contest - looking forward to it :)

And the winners are.

Aldinga V Lonsdale. Lonsdale

C/Beach V Flaggies. C/Beach in a close one.

Cove V Brighton. Brighton to bounce back after last week.

E/Town V Porties. Big game for both sides but the home team to get up.

Marion V M/Parks. Huge game and it should be a cracker but M/Parks for me.

Noarlunga V Hackham. Noarlunga

Reynella V M/Vale. (Sunday) Morphies to show who is top dog.

H/Valley (Bye)

Not now --- unless Flaggies can pull off an upset.
Otherwise they can't get past Noarlunga. They have now fallen below the Shoes on percentage, and the Shoes playing Hackham today will make that too hard to rectify.
Just a year to forget for the Divers.

Port's only other chance is getting past Christies. For that to happen its all about Flagstaff again !
Then they'll make it if they beat both Edwardstown and Christies (meaning Christies will have lost their last three). I can't see it.
Queen Elizabeth had a good term that descibes this --- 2009 has been Port Noarlunga's "annus horribilis"
