Mirror, as I said to you last week Gary Mutton will be a fantastic appointment. Has been heavily involved with Sturt junior squads for over a decade, and involved with grades from U14 upwards. Highly respected person & coach at Sturt FC, and I know the coaching staff of the league/reserves are disappointed to lose him for 2010. Gaz will take a different approach to coaching to what most old school country coaches take as he is a calm customer with a great footy brain. If your turnstiles are working overtime, I would suspect that they are the type of narrow minded Edwardstown population that I couldnt handle whilst I was at that club. I guess that's a double win for the Towns.

You have highlighted the main problem with the Towns right there. When I there in late 90's it was largely about recruits. When your club starts retaining some of the juniors (strong junior SUNDAY culture) into the seniors then you might meet your own expectations. You lost people when you moved to SFL, and now you may lose some with more whinging about the coaching before a session is held. Edwardstown WILL benefit in the LONG term by losing negative & fickle personalities. If that means a quiet 2010, so be it.

So apart from Toto's pizza on a Tuesday after training, give us an insight what makes playing for Edwardstown so special? Here is your chance to talk positively about your own club and the season ahead...

Haven't play at EFC for 2 years now, but when I was there - the players WERE the club. It was the same 20 blokes there on a Thursday night after training and on a Saturday night as we had a supporter base that could fit within a square metre box! But we had a great bunch of blokes that stuck together and did everything together through tough SAAFL div 1 & div 2 times. The senior part of the club has been solely run by 3-4 people with limited help and that has been highly admired by all that know the club.
Like you said, Unless the club can retain some of the juniors to come through the grades the club will continue to have turnstiles revolving with new recruits as the club does not have a family atmosphere or culture. Its the players and volunteers that make the club, with out these two things the bar would be empty Monday through Sunday!

I have a lot of great mates from EFC including players, officials and volunteers.... but this time I think they got it wrong. I shouldn't be worried as I dont even play there anymore but I just feel sorry for big Matt who has put in countless hours and always put the club first!

I wish EFC all the best for the tough 3 years ahead.

OK lads here goes.

Some Fact, Some maybe fiction but heres my latest mail. should get some talk happening.

1. matthew GOLDing to play at the $hoes. (???junior policy out the window)

2. Mckenzie and Loots to leave Happy Valley and play at Mclaren

3. Backwell, ?Fisher, 1 other ex league glenelg player to play at Happy Valley.

4. Mckeough and ? 2 ex league South players to play under clay $ampson at Myponga.

What does everyone think? which are true, which arent (if any)? time will tell.

Seriously doubt it.
President Meeting tomorrow night will confirm it, but looks like the new CFB Points System will be introduced for season 2010 which will mean A Grade Club points allocated will be up to maximum of 15 points. Pts will vary between top 6 & bottom 9 clubs.

Mouse & Fish ex SANFL League + not previously Valleys Jnrs would be 4 pts each.
Valleys will have maximum of 15pts with these 2 eating up 8 of them - plus they would be wanting big $$ to help cover their medical expenses seeing as they won't have the remarkable Doc Cesana on hand to look after them at Viking Land

my information is if Golding didn't want so much cash he would still be in the job
Mutts will develop a young exciting side because his passion is too teach football and the results will come

That's the thing everyone knows little about him. He has no choice but to develop a young side as ALL the senior players will leave given how they feel about the decision. Not sure about the cash comment, Evans wouldn't have done it for free last year so you would imagine they would be $8 to $10 better off. Mirror to be fair I think you have got a reasonable grasp of the situation.

Not sure about #2 but I'd suggest #1 #3 & #4 are a fair way off the mark. Time will tell

Doc Cesana is worth his weight in gold. absolute champion.

You are probably right about the senior player exodus mirror, but Mutts is not planning a flag next year. Watch with interest

Shame about the shoes this year they'd started earning the respect back that they lost from last time mitton was coach and seems as tho things are just going to go back to the way they were last time
again. Like vultures in recruiting. What happened to junior development now you will lose some of them for 1 year answers.

Cant comment on 1 & 3 but 2 & 4 wont happen. Mckeough is staying at the flys & Lootsy is more likely to stay at the Valleys, however Mclarens & Myponga should make a big play for him due to being 0 points.

Did hear that there were a couple of Sfl players at the Myponga meet the coach night... :-?

Were you not a recruit Asert and have played at a number of clubs?

Yes we will recruit as we did last year but not at the expense of our junior talent that is as strong as I have seen BUT they are developing and need support around them. No one works more closely with our juniors as I and they all look forward to the next step in their development.

Saw on the Panthers website that Ash Baxter "hasn't been offered a pre-season", does this mean he'll be back in a lions outfit?
