talking about the last decade, can anyone post the last decade worth of A grade premiership results in both A and B grade (grand finals i mean), it will settle an argument, it would be also good too rank the sides for the decade..[/quote
Before we get into a p***ing contest and you bash M/Ville Park & Marion juniors remember some facts. Up the hill and into southern regions, young families are moving in droves due to housing costs and redevelopment. I have stated before on this forum that at Morphies we are doing EVERYTHING we can to get our juniors going. It breaks junior development volunteers hearts when kids who have played U/8's to U/13's then go to clubs like Plympton or Brighton because their schoolmates play there too. It is not our fault that high schools like Glengowrie close down leaving us with nowhere to target for youth. This is not an excuse but if you look back 20 years (glengowrie closed in 1988) our juniors were exceptionally strong. In fact in 1989 our U/18's were undefeated Premiers, & in1990 our A grade won the flag with 4 players from that side playing a major role. We never look for hand outs, but are constantly ear bashed by the SFL that we must have Juniors. Morphettville Park has an aging population, and new residents are often refugees who are very good with the round ball, not so much the Sherrin. We will fight on and will continue to either win or at least put up a fight, especially at home on the "Pastie". One day we will be a powerhouse again

I agree. We live in the middle of a retirement home. Brighton get ALL juniors or they play school footy.

I've had 4 beers WLF. Is that agreement or are you laughing at me?

Definate agreement.
I came through juniors and we were strong going back, but now they ALL bypass Marion/Roos to go to Brighton.
BUT we should be alot better this year in juniors.

I think us "Townies" should work together to promote our Derby's. Our clubs have strong histories & rivalries. We have to maximise revenue & supporters would love it if is done right.

2004 Morphett Vale
2003 Morphett Vale
2002 Reynella
2001 Noarlunga
2000 Marion

so, adding the B GRADE PREMIERSHIPS to their A GRADE totals, we have.........

Morphett Vale 8
Reynella 3 (all B Grade)
BDOS 3
Noarlunga 2
Marion 2
Happy Valley 1
Cove 1

so to me, still a pretty clear cut winner.

according to PREMIERSHIP WINNING STATS, yes. realistically, no.

if i had the resources, i could work out finals apperances in both A's and B's, and i think apart from actual flags, i would say that playing finals is the next best indication of a clubs success.

next season for the first time in at least 6 maybe 7 or more years marion WILL have junior sides all the way through. u8 u10 u12 u14 u16 u18. its taken the dedication and patience of a select few but will pay off down the track. and our 14's might surprise one or two this season.
moe if the club atmosphere is right they will come, so keep it up down there. and i really like the idea of promoting our cityside derbies if done properly could be fantastic. and have i heard the whisper of a trophy being considered????

I would have to disagree! These stats would show Morphett Vale 1, Noarlunga 2, Brighton 3 with cove and marion equal 4th. Reynellas 3 brides maid dresses not as good as 1 premiership! This is just done on the Grand final results. Because over 10 years Noarlunga and marion missing finals would drop them down a little!

Brightons successful numbers in juniors which then flowed onto seniors came around due to some hard decissions been made in the late 90's. Due to this it changed the profile of the club and kids wanted to become bombers. Also when school footy competitions dried up brighton was the attractive club to play for so they came. To you complainers out there that say they are getting a raw deal with the kids CREATE THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT AND THEY WILL COME but don't cry because other clubs have done it before you.

Don't believe i said anywhere that we are getting a raw deal. I also did not have a "cry" about juniors leaving to other clubs. I simply pointed out that this is what is happening. Congratulations for making the tough call, and creating a good environment for the kids. I never bagged Brighton for any reason, & if you knew anything about Morphies environment, then you might be in a position to comment. Do not let a few drunken dildos out at pubs etc. be what we are judged on. Our junior committee & Club committee are working very hard on changing things , maybe that is why our numbers are so low on the track, we might be p***ing off the trouble makers. Think before you retort!

By your posts it looked like you were having a go at Brighton for being a more attractive club for the kids to play at. And I do know a bit about the roos club as I know people that were involved at it for a long time and had many conversations with them. So before you keep writing that brighton still your kids go back and find out what has gone on in the past.
P.s. I don't think to many twisties kids come over to brighton anyway it was more like they have gone to you or marion after they have seen the numbers.

Environment and winning culture is the key, really hard for clubs who haven't played much finals to attract players. The only way that can happen is if.. e.g. Morphie Pk get a good crop of young kids who move all the way through the ranks together winning or at least competing for premierships. Once they reach seniors, top them off with some recruits either from other teams or close mates of those guys. A good general football ops manager is required to do this with the aid of an aggressive recruiting coach who has the credentials that makes players follow his lead. Why not take Brighton's juniors model and possibly emulate it?? Which league team is Morphie Pk 'mostly' affiliated with.
