Was talking to Ex a few weeks ago and they did have a yarn or a go, but he could not afford the asking price or have enough food to feed the big fella! He is suprised that he has gone there as Ironbank would of had a REAL crack at him. If true I would say the Reynella don't pay much THEORY is being seriously questioned! Or the off the field assistances/bonuses being put forward! Good luck to him and then if he has decided Reynella, Ex personally rates the bloke - champion fella! Just now a shame that Ex will have to knock him out now that he is playing against him

I can confidently say Reynella is paying Billings $700 or more per game. The Threadgolds are the link here - they have gone after the big guy pretty hard as they know him through work etc. Be interesting to see how he gets along with Early.

Wouldn't happen.

I know that there is a fair bit of sh*t flung our way about player payments and incentives but I can tell you that the club simply would not pay that sort of coin for anybody.

Ben Moore played plenty of AFL and SANFL footy before joining us in 2008 and was one of the premier players in the SFL. He was getting plenty less than $700 a game. Guys liko Milo, Prescott, Middleton, Procter etc. have also performed over a number of years and have not been paid anywhere near that.

Early doesn't suffer fools. He would not have allowed Billings to join our club if he did not believe he was going to fit in. If Billings is with us, you can take it as given that he and Early will get on just fine

RFC 10 I think your head is in the clouds or up somewhere - he would not play for less than what he has been offered & so be it when it is on offer, so he would be around that mark as stated by Afterthesiren that is for sure. Stop denying as it has to of happened. I am sure him and Early would get on fine as again Tommy is a champion fella and is a great bloke to have around your player group. BUT it would not pf come cheap is all I am saying.

Funny thing about Billings is he loves to talk and doesn't mind sharing what some people would consider a secret. Get used to it RFC 2010... he's with you now. I'm informed Ironbank were going to pay him a healthy figure and he's now gone to Reynella for more (much, much more). The big man himself has confirmed this.

Interesting to hear both sides to the argument about billings. My opinion is that early wasnt at reynella for a quick fix, but to build a culture and playing group that will want to stay indefinately. If 1 player was getting that much, i can guarantee whether it be sooner or later, feathers will be ruffled and the revolving door will continue to swing.

Is he even worth that anyway? Plenty of winies that would deserve $$$ before him.

Need another Plasma for the Pool Room P32??

Personally, I'd rather win premierships and have no room for a telly but each to their own.

If Tom Billings is getting anywhere near $700 a game then the Southern league or amateur football in general is in a bad place!! :?

Not sure the SFL is in a bad place 'Jets'... they could do with two divisions but thats a whole other story. Billings is getting well paid by Reynella which begs the question: Why do the quality players that have been there for some time stick around when they are probably on a quarter of what Billings will receive. Some will argue because they love the club etc etc. Whether its talked about or not amoungst the players I'm sure some of these lads go home thinking "Why the hell is he getting paid that much when I'm working as hard or harder and getting the same or better results". I know some are hanging around for that elusive premiership. I also know some have been offered very good money to go elsewhere. I'd imagine the bubble will burst eventually and these loyal Reynella boys will go to other clubs and get paid what they are actually worth (aka Ben Moore).
The other scary thing I'm hearing is Morphett Vale have got stronger with several players returning and some handy pick ups also. I also hear Shorty hasn't retired and will be going around again in 2010.

Well I can tell you that Tanunda contacted Backy and another couple of players from SFL clubs. Backy told them straight out he doubted he would be interested and they should chase their other options.

Thats the SFL for ya the strong get stronger the weak stay weak. Good on Morphett Vale as much as ya hate them for winning ya gotta respect them for the fact that a very high % r home grown talent. Prob the best in the league or close to!
