My opinion is that early wasnt at reynella for a quick fix, but to build a culture and playing group that will want to stay indefinately. If 1 player was getting that much, i can guarantee whether it be sooner or later, feathers will be ruffled and the revolving door will continue to swing.
Is he even worth that anyway? Plenty of winies that would deserve $$$ before him.

Not sure the SFL is in a bad place 'Jets'... they could do with two divisions but thats a whole other story. Billings is getting well paid by Reynella which begs the question: Why do the quality players that have been there for some time stick around when they are probably on a quarter of what Billings will receive. Some will argue because they love the club etc etc. Whether its talked about or not amoungst the players I'm sure some of these lads go home thinking "Why the hell is he getting paid that much when I'm working as hard or harder and getting the same or better results". I know some are hanging around for that elusive premiership. I also know some have been offered very good money to go elsewhere. I'd imagine the bubble will burst eventually and these loyal Reynella boys will go to other clubs and get paid what they are actually worth (aka Ben Moore).
The other scary thing I'm hearing is Morphett Vale have got stronger with several players returning and some handy pick ups also. I also hear Shorty hasn't retired and will be going around again in 2010.

I have been at Reynella a few years now and will admit i would not go to presentations on sat nights when evans was in control. (Went once, never again). Since Early has had control the culture has changed, presos are now a family enviroment, juniors are involved with the seniors for the first year, the club is becoming one, they are starting to remember that the juniors are the future and the footballers know they won't get away with much like under Evans. Yes we have recruited strongly this year, but to be sucessful you need to and with the likes of more clubs (Marion, Noarlunga and M/Vale recruiting well) you need to recruit to have more depth something Reynella has lacked for a while..and yes in this day and age you need to pay something for players not from your club, then you hope that they have a great year and enjoy themselves and want to stay around for a while. Some don't some will.
From what i read on this site alot of talk is all about Reynella, when was their last? 1977. The only people that remember second? Reynella. But i'll tell you, people wont forget once we do win one because once you forget where you came from there is nothing to strive for, with Early in charge this football club is striving for bigger and better things not just on the field but off.
Hope everybody has a great christmas and let the banter continue, and remember Enjoythegame....

I think Most peoples point of view on Reynella over the years has been that they have thrown away cash ( and t.v's and Air Con's) at the wrong people to try and buy there way to success. Maybe it has been desperate maybe it has been the right decision but in the end the results ( or should i say in this case the bridesmaid dress's ) speak for them selves!
So when it comes to other clubs commenting on the funds being thrown around at reynella, people are probably thinking .... Here we go again! Sure every club would love to have those sponsors at there disposal but in reality not everyone does. If we did tho, im sure the clubs would learn from Reynella's mistakes![]()
IN MY HONEST OPINION........ Look after those players who have been loyal and stayed rather than grab the cash and run!! Every club has them, even the Flies!
