Big Red - what do you mean when will they learn - how the hell else are you meant to improve on your list - it's called hard work recruiting to get the best group together possible for your club, if your club is in the few rare ones that do not need to - good onya and don't sh*tbag ones that are trying to be as competitive as possible and then hold the group together. Getting a spoon comes to mind for you!

look juicy..... you've been around a long time and should know the dollar only goes so far when it comes to setting up your club for the long haul!!

at the moment your probably licking your lips together at the current list for the up coming season. But what about 2 years time or 5 years time or 10 years time? Will you be around then?

If rumours are true about the number of recruits u have this season, at what stage do u sacrifice the future of Marion football club by not blooding the kids and opening the cheque book for a quick fix??

understand totally that u want to be competitive.... But being competitive long term is not on the agenda hey?

Unless you know for fact that all new recruits are on big bucks then you cant really comment...

teams have to recruit if they arent performing. we have done it. marion are doing it. everyone needs to recruit. there arent many footy clubs in Australia that can say all their senior players have played at the one club from juniors through to seniors.

all clubs like marion and hackham can do is recruit, create an atmosphere that the new players enjoy, and hopefully keep the players as long as possible. of course we're gonna offer some good players money, its the only way we can sway them from joining the more successful clubs.

i dont agree with player payments at all in amateur football. its stupid. but its here and nobody can avoid it now. so we have to deal with it and move on.

and to be honest nobodies opinion actually matters concerning other clubs until something actually happens...you cant say now whats going to happen in two years time and start bagging a club for it...wait til it happens...then go for it...

if it's halsey your talking about, good luck having him at your club. has the communication skills of a walrus! my mail is alot more players would have left edwardstown if he stayed on.

My sources at townies also said if he didnt leave there would have been a mass exodus of players.
You must ask yourself why an out and out townies man would not be wanted at his own club before coming to yours $hoe boy...but if he fits in well at the $hoe good luck to all involved.

What's wrong with your list already. Why don't you put in some hard work and get the list you already have better as they want to play there for the club rather than recruit so heavily. Hard work costs alot less than being inpatient for a quick fix

Asert you worry about yourself hey I suggest!
Big Red we needed to recruit well this year due to the lack of juniours coming through over the last few years. We now have all juniour grades filled with some good young kids. This is due to ALOT of hard work done from people at the club over the last 8 years and now it is paying off. BUT for this year we need to recruit some quality to our squad and some wanted depth. Achieved. In the future the club is going to be fine. Senior success brings people to your club let's not kid ourselves. Juniours will start filtering through next year and beyond. Don't judge a clubs efforts when you know squat about what has gone on there over the years.
We are more than comfortable with our work in the off season and we are executing our strategy to put the club in good stead for years to come.

Shoe Boy - CFB point allocation I am pretty sure, whatever the last updated sheet was that was given out to the clubs from their last SFL meeting.
Points were not a worry to us as most of the lads have either played juniours or have served the club for a good period of time and are 1 point players. Few of the new recruits are former juniors so again classed as local. We are close to our cap now though as you should aim to be with the points system.

Good luck to you lads as well, look forward to playing you fella's, It's our 10 year re-union of the dual premiership flags against you lads this year in 2000, so it should be a cracker game and hopefully a good crowd.

As an outsider reading what Mr J has said is absolutely spot on. Given the position they were in with lack of juniors and money to spend they would be stupid not to. IF everything works out the way Mr J is stating then they have done very well for themselves. Unless you have been at the other end in this decade it is alot different to years gone by.

He is spot on in saying you have to win games to attract other people and I feel who ever has been in charge of getting their asses into gear has done a fantastic job.

For anyone to say otherwise does not understand or is just ignorant/ arrogant to their own precious wourld they live in.

Well done Marion I say, let's hope the results speak for themselves. At least their trying to make the SFL a stronger comp not the joke it is at the moment.

Success as a club can be defined in a number of ways, but in terms of on-field success what would be a good result for Marion this year? Mr J, what position on the ladder at the end of the minor round would be considered a failure and what position would be considered a success?

Lets not start congratulating Marion about anything until they can show the rest of us that they have turned it around where it counts...
