Are Marion the Crows of the SFL? Plenty of talk, hype and potential (due to recruiting) going into the season but unable to deliver when it counts.

missing 4 of our recruits and only running a bench of two was the main reason for the loss everthing is fine at ram park but getting a full strength side is just not happening. Still recruited players have not shown form baring 1 or 2 (undies, townsend) and the game plan we follow is just basic at moment.Things will improve thats for sure but this year could be again just the starting point with a whole bunch of newbies into our club. credit to the b's a great win. Can we post an add saying
swap 1/2 kilo muscles for as many brains as we can.
If we and all clubs pay players why do we just look at fitness and skill but forget brains might be an IQ test next draft picks.

Can't take anything away from the Lions - they certainly came to play. They also finished the game with only 2 on the pine - not to mention their long list of injuries already and defections to Port Noarlunga.

As I stated several months ago, reynella are and should be(after todays performance) favourites for a well overdue piece of silverware.
M/vale still a very good side, but after watching today, watching 2 weeks ago against Marion, are not going as well as we all think, especially when you have a look at marions results in the last 2 weeks.
M/vale very close,if not at full strength today and perhaps alot might say "finally the current times are catching up with them...$$$$.

Reynella won by about 8 goals.

Elijiah Ware won the Anzac medal.

Gutsy effort by the boys. No bench for last quarter and still outscored MV by about 3 goals.

Early will be happy with the win but we all know that a win in April means bugger all if we don't jag a win on GF day.

Guarantee Early and the boys will be enjoying a few beers at the club tonight but that the focus will shift to Edwardstown pretty quickly.

On a side note, how good was the day at MV oval today. Awesome advertisement for local footy and for all that our comp has to offer.

i assume this was voted by the umps? as on the sportingpulse website, it dosnt even have him in reynella's top 6, which is done by the coaches?

did Ware get this on reputation alone or was he just overlooked by his own coaching staff?

also, sorry if this has been bought up already, but i was told yesterday that the association match against the Hills FL has been scratched after Hills decided to pull out recently.

firstly, anyone else heard this and is it true?

secondly, if so, what is the SFL planning to do about it?

Elijiah was ok for first 3 quarters and blitzed in last. I guess umpires know who he is and the last quarter stuck in their mind when voting for the medal 10 minutes after the end of the game.

Coaching staff may have given jobs to guys or saw other things that they thought should be rewarded with B + F votes.

BTW, TBB how is the general feeling down at Aldinga after the scare earlier in the year and the start to the season?

Names in SportingPulse best players could be anything. Best case scenario is being picked by coaching staff. However I suspect they are sometimes names just thrown together by the team manager to get the paperwork sorted out asap.
I would suggest that in general umpires' selections would be more reliable than SportingPulse best players.

Can't comment on other clubs, but at Flagstaff it is best players as voted by the Coaching staff.

feeling is pretty good. a reasonably tough draw for the first few weeks with Cove, Emus and Porties. The scoreboard results arent because of lack of heart or effort, that's for sure.

losing who i would say were our 2 best players in Liam Shrive and Mark Walter, and without any "big name" recruits, but rather a heap of young lads keen to help the club, it was always going to be tough.

but we'll keep doing what we've been doing the last few years, battling along and trying to improve.
