Baxter has improved out of sight he may even be worth 2 meat pies these days.

We started a young lad Luke Genikas on him who we are hoping will become a player similar to former MV skipper Gaskin. Luke had his hands full but had some nice touches until going off with an ankle. I think I previously said first qtr but it was very early in the 2nd. This forced Nathan Twomey to go to CHB from CHF (my reference to upsetting our structure) and Twoms played a great game and did some great defensive work in the last qtr when the game was on the line. Having said that Beeching was still given 3rd best by MV which was fair enough but Twomey was also high in our best. Jora, Pollard and Beech gave good marking targets all day but this is where we could have matched up better with Statham and Rivers if not injured. Sneezer rotated his midfield in the last qtr with Johnstone, Bradley and Norsworthy all having short spells on the bench and each had big impacts at the clearances when they re-entered the action. MV no doubt missed Bayly and Bennetts in their midfield which would have hurt them but I was very impressed with Stuart Sampson and a couple of younger blokes who came off the bench, No. 24 being one of them. The MV mob were reminding us after the game that its not September yet but any club will take a win against MV anytime. Its only our 2nd win vs Emus in our last 11 attempts so who cares if its only May.

Hopefully The Dutchman wasn't one of them, has he gone on a date with Hotdogs, MIA from this forum

At marion, hopefully the red army will be out in full force.. would've loved this to be a twilight game which occured a few years back when flaggies ventured down to Marion.. was probably the best atmosphere i've experienced at a local game, bar grand final day

Well according to Dilligaf's post it sounds about right. I wouldn't go bragging about belting someone though Dilligaf, it's not exactly the reputation you want as a club. It's funny that we haven't heard from you for so long until you beat Marion. Something to chirp about hey?

Have heard Dylan Williams has quit South. Does anybody know why he quit and who he is playing for now?

There was a story about it in last Friday's paper from memory. Same old story in today's SANFL. Unable to fully commit to training demands etc. The story indicated that he would be seeking to play for Kaniva where he has some mates playing.

Thanks DTH.
MV should be okay. With pretty much the same side as last year they should be primed come september. I know injuries is a weak excuse but with the quality of players they have had out for the last few games i can see why they have lost the last couple. But when they get them back and are up and running i still think they would be the best side in the SFL.

Yeah that is true they wouldn't want to lose any more games if they want to make the top four. I have heard that he needs a recon, although i can't confirm it.

The return bouts with reynella and brighton become of huge importance for the emus now. Elimination final wouldnt be much different from previous years really. 5th team nearly always makes the 8th team look ridiculous.
Unfortunately the old dinosaur needs a reco. In usual fashion, he has got his chin up and will be right behind the boys for the rest of the season.

Record Elim score 25-19. Record for any A-Grade Final 30-12
Reckon if the Emus find themselves in one of them this year both of those might go.
No need for panic just yet though --- missing the Four means four sides finish on top of you. So far the damage is just three games.

BTP, firstly I still think M/Vale are a huge chance for the top 4, it's only Round 7 after all!

Secondly, looking at the ladder, you have Cove, M/Vale, Reynella, Brighton, Edwardstown, Happy Valley and Noarlunga in the top 7, apart from Noarlunga's loss to Flaggy on the weekend they look like they will demolish all of the average teams and make the top 8 (thanks mainly to their game plan of kick it to Golding).

So would you agree that 7 teams would 'almost' be locked in going on results so far?

If that is the case there is one spot up for grabs and going on results Port Noarlunga (although they have started slowly are always good come September and proved it on the weekend against Valleys) and Flagstaff Hill (knocked off Noarlunga, and lost to Townies and Cove by 2 goals), would have to be the current favorites to take up the other finals spot.

Do you honestly think M/Vale will kick 30 goals against a side that has came within two kicks of Townies and Cove, or Port Noarlunga who have beaten valleys (Who beat the emus)! And yes i know M/Vale had players out, but so does every side, and so will sides come September.

I think it's time you accepted that the top 8 (not the whole competition) is getting tighter and that M/Vale are not as invincible as they were in the past (I'm still backing them to be a force in September, but not in the way you describe).
