I played one game for Brighton in the Mid 90's, the only team rule I new, lets get beaten every week.
That must have been 1995 DK when we only won 4 games in A1 - SAAFL. That culture only lasted one season because we didn't invite back the guys who simply weren't good enough !!!!
Yeah DTH you certainly needed a cleanout. In 95 the game was played at TT Gully, only played as I was coming back after long term injury from a 2nd's league team. Played the game, lost, in best players, said thanks, went to Lennies, back to main club for rest of year. In 96 Brighton invited me to play in A2, instead to went to successful A1 club and stayed there for 7 years. Brighton wouldn't clear me until I paid $20 for my socks and shorts, that they said I could keep anyway. And yes the buggers were serious, and they were smug about it. Is that the culture you got rid of DTH?? The blokes were good, but the club admin were twisted. I am sure they have moved forward since then, but I was never going to support or play for this team again.

Like business, reputation is so important for long term success of footy clubs. Little or badly managed issues can be so costly. In business if one of your high achieving employees leaves your business because they need a change, or your business model wasn't the right fit for them. What would you do?
Are you going to burn them, take them to the Industrial Relations Commission, hold them to contract and make them sit out of work until the contract has expired??
Or do you wish them well on their endeavours, count your loses. I don't need them here if they don't have the passion. Then start looking at your own backyard, how do I make this workplace more attractive for my workers, start rebuilding.
As a good employer I know what I would do. But I don't work for the Lonsdale FC.

Congratulations to Adam Rigney from Lonsdale footy club on reprensenting Australia South in the Aboriginal game (Curtain raiser to essendon V richmond) at the MCG today. Have heard rumours he has kicked a few and managed a beauty from the boundary. Have also heard the game will be telecast on NITV (foxtel) this thursday, can anyone confirm??

Not quite sure what you're trying to say and what analogy you are trying to make DK but sounds impressive. 15 years is a long grudge. I've done my homework and worked out who you are. You've given me a good trivia question for our Quiz Night. Which player with the famous SA sporting family name played 1 game for Brighton in 1995 and we wouldn't clear him in 1996 until he paid for his shorts and socks ?

Went and watched Aldinga v Brighton today. A severely depleted Aldinga side today - looked like they were missing the Scarff boys, Scott Hunt, Glen McGowan to name a few. Anyway, what I couldn't get over was Brighton's appalling goalkicking. I don't remember the final score because I'd had a couple of beers but it was something like 30.28?? How on earth can this be justified, particularly given that Aldinga were missing their whole back line?

From what I saw today, Brighton is a formidable side. Their ball handling was second to none - it just all went to s*** as soon as they got it within 30m of their goals. This is a bad analogy, but to me, Brighton's football today reminded me of a toilet brush - you've got the smooth handle, but at the end you've got this fuzzy brush thing spraying everywhere... and most of the time it's got s*** on the end of it. ;)

Forgot to add who I thought was best for Aldinga today: Rigby Barnes (been on fire this season), Bryce Garrard (looks like he's got a new lease on life - how old is he now, 34? Doesn't show it), Scott McInerney (that #3 I was going on about last week, top stuff). Joel Harman and Hayden Bradley were also pretty solid.

Got to hand it to the Townies ----- they lose that monster in front of goals and a truckload of other talent, and they are still winning consistently enough to look certain finalists at this point.
What a winning culture they must have at that Club ! Says a lot for their coach Gary Mutton as well ---- don't know much about the guy but he obviously knows his stuff.

If that Pt Noarlunga player was number 20 I can understand this happening. His conduct over several years now has been deplorable. It is a reflexion on your club and his coaches that he still continues to use fists elbows and knees illegally and I believe to spit at opposition players. He is a disgrace to your club and your club is a disgrace for allowing his conduct to continue. Rather than inappropriate reactions to this conduct I implore opposition clubs to report him as the umpires don't seem too keen on doing so.

Agree VC Golding a better player than coach by a long way. Towns having a great year when everyone thought they would struggle after their mass exodus of players and will still push the top teams, go u blue boys

Fisho sounds like you have had way to many beers when writing your posts. How can you had sh#t on a club when your club has been totaly discraced on saturday. I,m not a brighton boy but I can't understand how these lower clubs supportters can give such opinions especially when your whole clubs score from every side for the day still wasn't enough to defeat brightons under 14s. Also seems like Aldinga should work on the goal kicking side of things as they only managed 50% efficientcy and I believe brightons was better. I don't normally sh#t can lower clubs but When supporters write sh#t like fisho did I believe people have the wright to. Fisho while you are helping the boys with the goal kicking teach them how to actualy win the ball first.
Well done brighton yesterday I was down that way for work a needed the footy fix so had a look at ya's and you looked good with a very even contribution across the ground.

Nah, I was actually just really tired. The drivel always flows more spontaneously then. ;) I was a bit bemused myself when I reread the bit about the toilet brush (although it is more or less what I was thinking).

I thought Brighton looked the goods yesterday - very disciplined, very efficient. But I'm sorry - their goalkicking was absolutely terrible and I can't say otherwise. They weren't under pressure, at least a third of their missed shots occurred while running into an open goal, and premiership-winning teams don't do that. If Port Noarlunga had had that many shots against us they'd have kicked 60-odd goals. Brighton's forwards let the rest of the side down, which is a pity because they were fantastic all day.

You've got the 'wright' to say whatever you want - nothing I haven't heard before. I got used to people saying how disgraceful Aldinga are a long time ago. Doesn't offend me. The main thing is that they're having a go and working hard to improve. There aren't going to be any instant results, but it will happen one day.

I'm constantly amazed on this site that whenever I hand out a compliment to a side or club it gets met with negativity. All I said about Golding was that they'd lost him from the goalfront.
All I've seen is an Edwardstown that keeps winning. It happened last year and this year its even more noticeable when they were supposed to have a depleted side.
