I would not want anyone trying to win the GF this year from a forefit.

I think we're right KD. Our players are just a little worried about their spray tans getting ruined from the cheap dye in the Reynella jumpers.

You Brighton boys are sounding pretty confident! Dont tell me the Bombers have already put the order in for some figure hugging "premiership 2010" pastel coloured hooded tanktops...?? Dont get ahead of yourself boys!

You could get in trouble as you would probably have to order thru Globalize instead of the SFL preferred Sportscentre...

No over-confidence whatsoever CT, just a little banter to settle the nerves. Bombers have lost their last 2 GF's and Reynella their last 6 so I doubt either camp is claiming this one in advance.

Who will get the umpiring gig this week ?

does anybody know the umpires well enough to make a prediction? they are annouced tonight, if i hear from a boundary umpire mate ill post.

I find it difficult to believe that anyone would be paid that much in the SFL but seeing this kid run like the wind he may very well be worth it.....

Mr Footy, Elijah is not being paid anywhere near that amount by Reynella. He moved into the area last year and got to know one of the B grade lads who lived across the road. He was playing in Pt Lincoln at the time and asked whether it would be ok to train with Reynella. We said it was fine. He fit in really well with everyone from the moment he walked into the changerooms. At season's end, he asked whether he could play for us in 2010 and the club naturally agreed. It wasn't a case of us luring him to the club on the promise of big coin. If that was the case, I'm sure he would have been happy to drive an extra twenty minutes South and don a $hoe$ jumper for a bucketload of cash ;)

Can't say for sure, I was on the opposite side of the ground and by the time I looked up the melee had started.

I have heard the same as mr footy. Not denying that he has fitted in well and i wouldnt have a clue what he gets paid (so i wont make a fool of myself by guessing), but i know for sure that a former SFL a grade coach now coaching in another league is very keen on him and that figure wont be a problem for the club in question.

If Elijah is happy to play at RFC and not chase the big bucks good on him .... but the rumour is out there
wouldnt it be nice if players just want to play with their mates and not chase coin - sadly not often the case
I can tell you there is a very strong rumour that a certain club in the southern winery region that is targetting alot of SFL players and offering some coin for them to go

DTH
Get real P32. So if a player in a winning Prelim belts an umpire or puts 3 people in hospital he should have his hearing deferred ?

The MV lad is very unlucky. Several Cove punks would have got there's if it wasn't a Prelim but the poor Emu lads had to restrain themselves from doing anything silly. Pretty brave from the Cove lads knowing the Emu's couldn't really fight back.

I thought the days of losing Prelim teams in the SFL taking some prisoners with them had gone but the actions of the Cove B grade in that scoreboard pocket was an embarrassment to their club.
Almost as embarrassing as Dutch's hair on Sunday in the A grade. What was he thinking ?

I suppose DTH we could ask the young Cove player that went to hospital as a result of the spark that started it all, but we cant as he cant remember much of it at all. Football is littered with stories of players doing stupid things at the wrong time.

embarrassment to their club
From what I hear lately Brighton are not exactly setting the world on fire in representing the good name of the club.

PS: Lets hope for a nil all draw Saturday, or at worst a 1 point win to the the Flies after the siren.

DTH- I am sure that Cove player who received an elbow to the head and finished in hospital on Sunday Night would disagree with your version of events. I think you will find that the fight started when the MV player elbowed the Cove player.

Has anything been mentioned of the MV supporter (female) who belted a Cove player with a fist in the B Grade from outside the fence.

WRONG Rush a Point i shall post again
Sitting 2 meters away from the incident 2 cove players rushed in towards M/V player he put his forearm up to protect himself from the 2 cove players and got one of them as he rushed in. Im not saying the M/v boys were totally innocent but they also knew they were going into the grand final next week and had to take a couple hits for this reason.
Trust me the player in question had no time but to protect himself in the contact that got him the game. It was not even a retaliation

You guys are always the victim these days. Every Cove person at the ground was in the pocket furthest away from the incident. I wasn't as close as Spanner but alot closer than your mob and it looked very much as though Cove were the aggressors. You've won an A grade flag so you shouldn't have an inferiorty complex anymore. Plus Vicky has finally got his medal so you've completed the set of A grade awards. Now get off the forum you Cove guys because you should be dedicating your time to finding a coach and a ruckman. I hear those wonderful previous ruck recruits in Pedroth and Size are available to return.

You can take my word on it that he is not getting anywhere near that amount!!! As has been mentioned on here, Noodles approached a Reynella player to train with us in 2009 and when he came out knew a couple of the boys including myself. Had already committed to the team for 2010 before the 2009 season even finished and when it came to negotiating it didn't take long to get him onboard. The bloke is having a great time at the club, works and lives with another player and yes he has already had plenty of offers but is definitely focused on this saturday!
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

The lady from Reynella was the junior coordinator, she should be Sacked for her actions toward the junior umpire. If we want to keep young kids to be umpires we should look out for them. There is a learning curve for both young players and umpires.

Not supporting the abuse of a umpire what so ever at that age, I heard in the U10 game he was giving free kicks to M/Vale kids for no reason, then telling them where to kick the ball (Is that a good learning curve for the kids) He is an U14 M/Vale player ....this raises the question of weather these kids should be umpiring their own teams games???The right answer could solve alot of problems...Well done to all involved in running the carnival was a great day.

He is NOT a Morphett Vale player at all. I think it is important that facts are verified before making comments regarding any children's matches or of children themself in a public forum. He was also not paying free kicks for no reason. He gave plenty of warnings to the abusive parents and officials on the sideline before he started paying those free kicks so I assume he was told to do so by his coach. I also know for a fact that ALL teams and officials were issued with a very clear code of conduct before the event and given clear instructions to pass this information on to their families, and that the abuse this child umpire received at the hands of this team was appalling.

To set the record straight, the tribunal hearing decided that the coordinator does not have to be stood down. from what i heard the young umpire involved as well as the head junior umpire both changed there stories when questioned by the SFL tribunal.

So i know of one person that has got off at the tribunal this year!!!

Again, I would make the comment that, "I think it is important that facts are verified before making comments regarding any children's matches or of children themself in a public forum".
