A bit of leadership from the Pres and other SFL Directors may be a good idea. They lead us into this delema. They thought that one division was the way to go. Time to admit that they were wrong. It's time that they helped to set things right!

Easy fixed. League states that anyclub that finishes outside the top 8 this year is in div2 next year. Each club has this season to prove they are worthy of being a div1 club.

How may of the top 6 / 7 sides are sick of having to play 5 - 8 meaningless games against the cellar dwellers each year.

and how many of us cellar dwellers are sick of being smashed by 40 goals by the powerhouse teams? Yeah we'd love to beat you guys again but we're so far off at the moment and being thrashed for most of the season doesn't help us cellar dwellers one bit. I've heard the arguement that if it went two divisions teams like Aldinga would leave the league, if we haven't already left after being belted for the last few years I think its fairly safe to say we're not going to leave if it goes two divisions!
Also it was pretty good times for us back in the div II days! Come on SFL, almost everyone wants it, you are our elected officials why will you not change it?

Craig Warman..........are you paying attention to this?????????

I hope the SFL are paying attention to this. Its hard to find many people disagreeing with 2 divisions.

The league seem more concerned with the state of the junior competition than the a grade. Until the league realise that it is all about the a grade and that no one cares about junior and reseves flags other than the people involved then we wre screwed.
At least if the change was made then it would give people from the lower clubs a chance to play in finals and maybe win a premiership, take lonsdale in 2001 as an example.
Go on the sfl website and try to find a list of mail medalists from division 2, they have just decided to pretend it did not exist. How many clubs need to fold or get in trouble for the league to listen, sullies gone, lonsdale gone, hackham dropped out for a while, aldinga were in strife last year and this year marion.

They worked hard on that and of course are now back in Div 1 (or Central as it is called) Just a point of interest as I am fully in favour of 2 Divisions.

Well, that is not actually repudiating my statement if it was due to multiple reasons.

The Hills relegation is based on all grades bar the U13. That is why Birdwood were relegated, they finished 3rd bottom in A grade.

What do people think of this?

Div 1

Reynella
Brighton
Morphett Vale
Cove
Valley
Noarlunga
PT Noarlunga
Flagstaff

Good competitive games every week and ALL clubs have a full set of juniors and would save all the whinging re programming (all teams could play at the same oval).

Div 2

Edwardstown - Could be div 1 if they decide to bring 14/16's to Southern league
Christies
OSB/Lonsdale
Morphettville Pk
Marion
Aldinga
Hackham
Kangies - would return to a 2 div SFL

Good competitive games most weeks but more importantly no embarassing 50 goal losses. Junior comp wouldnt feature all clubs in all grades but being a more competitive comp would give all clubs a good chance to rebuild their juniors. Most importantly all clubs in both divisions would feel they are only a few years away from a premiership - which is what we all play for.

The league could look at expanding also former SFL teams like Mitchell pk or Meadows could be interested in a return.Kenilworth, Glenunga and Colonal Light Gdns have shown interest in the past. Another longshot could include Plympton?

Not a bad suggestion lion heart. What would you propose as far as a promotion criteria? Div 2 A grade flag and full compliment of junior teams?

Also as an 8 team comp, play each other home and away is 14 rounds. I think it has been mentioned earlier that a 2 x 10 team comp is the ultimate aim, which would be good as it would make an 18 round minor round, all playing each other twice.

very good options LH. The only thing I can see not happening is Kenilworth coming over after there Premiership success last year, and this year they are looking even better.

Spot on MatteeG.

Re the 10 teams it would be nice but i think Christies and Hackham are the only other clubs with a full deck of teams?
