I am hearing that the Wine Flies are about to sign a full forward from DTH who has a really big ego and very deep pockets that he will expect to be filled.

Why would they need to recruit a Full Forward when they have a centurion goal kicker already???

Not sure where, not 100%, but pretty sure they are out for 2016 - hence DTH FF.

Reading the Southern Times this morning, Reynella are to participate in a "Champions League" style competition against several other teams from other leagues in SA at Thebarton Oval. Thoughts?

I feel it could be used as a gauge as to how our best teams line up against other competitions. However, the gauge may be tainted as teams have changed since finals last year and the same squads will most likely not line up against each other. One would think the week or 2 after the Grand Final this competition could be played to best gauge the teams, but I'm sure the respective GF winners from various leagues would still be concentrating on celebrating their GF wins and not pay any attention to a subsequent competition.

None the less, very much looking forward to seeing how Winies hold up against other clubs. A good pre season test for them. Plus, any pre season game on Thebarton Oval will test the lungs of the players, one of the bigger ovals I've played on.

The premiers from GSFL & SFL played off for the "Messenger Cup"for a few years, that seems to have fizzled out.

Very quiet on here;
Posting a ladder always sparks some debate:

2016 after round 18;
Reynella
Flagstaff Hill
Brighton
Noarlunga
Christies
Morphett Vale
Cove
Happy Valley
Morphy Park
Port Noarlunga
Marion
Hackham
Lonsdale
Aldinga

IMO - Positions 5 to ten are going to be pretty tight this year with a few sides improving on last year and a few sides dropping on last years performances.

if it's true that Doggers , Fazz, Bradshaw and Co are going round again, it's going to be tough to topple the 2015 premiers in September 2016.

So with things being so quiet on here i am sure this will spark some debate. Sources tell me The Shoes have re-signed Waylon Johncock and also signed one of his cousins Peter Burgoyne. We will wait to hear from Shoeboy or OMM for confirmation.

With your predictions the bottom 4 are consistent !!
considering the weighted draw the bottom receive also the lopsided points supplied and now with the salary cap WHY?

How can those clubs use the points when players don't want to go there as they're receiving offers from other clubs who are more successful. Very tough to recruit (and keep) good quality players when they perceive the grass is greener elsewhere.

If you're a gun for hire, you pick playing for the same $$$ between one of those four clubs and a club in the top 4. The choice unfortunately is easy for them.

It disappoints me to see the league in such a state, but it is what it is.

Can any of those bottom 4 sides make a decent push into the top 8 in the next 5 years, I wouldn't put money on it.

The weighted draw - those 4 teams play each other twice, out of those games someone still has to lose and not have notched up a W for the year.

With that attitude these clubs will never succeed. I know it isn't easy but have a long term plan and stick to it, starting with Saturday juniors i'd suggest.
